What the hell? All turbos will by nature be "hot air turbos". even the STS turbos are hot air (exhaust is hot gas/air).

Brazilbro 12-09-2009 09:56 PM

Sorry guys, no progress this week so far.. Im going to call STS and see what turbo they use for the 350z and then maybe take it up a lil. Looks like might need injectors.. AAM is using 600cc if I remember right (I'll look at their thread to know forsure) So I'm going to check pricing on those too. I found a guy who knows the oil scavager pump system well. He built a 600HP TT (GTM KIT W/GTM A. Trans) G35 4door that uses one. And hes got an exaust guy that can make the piping.

1slow370 12-10-2009 03:14 AM

google smokey yunick fiero thing is nuts i remember seeing the special on horsepower tv years ago about it.

Guy took it to the extremes. +400 degree intake temps heated by the exhaust and coolant. It comes at the risk of fire hazard though. Some guy bought and restored the original car.

They kinda breezed over the oil pump feed stuff, but other than that, really nice vid.

StillenZ 12-17-2009 02:46 PM

StillenZ 01-17-2010 12:09 PM

I know its cold out there, but anything new?????

>135I 01-17-2010 12:58 PM

Subscribed.. I am very interested in this thread. I want to do an FI system for my 370 but they are all so damn expensive but if I could do one for 5k then I would be very interested.

GingaBreadMan 01-17-2010 01:19 PM

We all should call STS so they know how much interest there is in a rear mounted TT kit for the 370z. I'm gonna make a follow up call in the next couple of months. I'm waiting for the weather to get better, and save up some money.

Brazilbro 01-17-2010 03:58 PM

I called STS and sent them emails.. no one will return my call.. In my email I told them I wanted their universal kit, but I didnt know what turbo they would recommend with the 3.7 so they responded to my email asking me to call.. so I called a few times leaving messages but no call back... I'll try again monday..

motoextreme 01-17-2010 04:39 PM

Let us know if you have any luck man.

Zsteve 01-17-2010 05:35 PM

everyone should call and say we were looking into your system but since you cant call back, CYA. 10 or 15 calls like that might get them thinking.

GingaBreadMan 01-18-2010 02:54 PM

I'm surprised. They called me back the same day if not the next. I'm not gonna give up. I was going to wait 5yrs to go TT, but at STS's price I said why wait. Give them to spring, if we don't get a response I guess we will have to move on.

Zguy 01-30-2010 08:24 PM

any news from anyone?

Lol... I was thinking the same thing earlier... Wishin' someone would do something... If I could find someone that was confident in the reliability and tuning (a shop nearby)... I might just let them talk me into it, but I don't know... wish someone would do somethin

biggersNISMO 01-31-2010 10:49 AM

^^^STS is another option, i hope someone comes through for you

After some tuning on this set-up, they were able to make 520whp....

motoextreme 01-31-2010 11:35 AM

Did anyone get a price or info if they are even working on a 370? Surely someone lives close to them and can swing by since they are yet to respond.

StillenZ 01-31-2010 12:20 PM

I talked to them through e-mail and they only suggest buying the universal kit.... It's hard to get them to say much more through email... Seems like they are telling everyone to call and even then only telling them to buy the universal kit.... I'd love to see them make a 370Z specific kit...

I still worry about reliability on a kit like this... I know they have that patented oil feed deal but I still would feel a lot better talking to some people with sts kits successfully installed and hear some long term reviews....Doesn't seem like there are near as many people with STS as some of the other major brands..(There's got to be a reason why because it is definitely cheaper?)

Maybe people just don't want to try it because of all the crap they hear from everyone else... Seems to me though that "everyone else" hasn't tried STS out for themselves meaning I haven't heard anyone say, "I had STS once and hated it"... Just my opinion though... I might have to take the plunge

Zguy 01-31-2010 03:03 PM

I have seen a few rear mount turbo setups on Vettes and Z28's... along with building one for one of my friends.... IMO they are a solid system... just different, im sure thats the reason more people dont try it. Most people for our platform also want TT or Superchargers.... I dont really think that single turbo setups are as popular im sure that is another reason.

As far as longevity.... thats going to be pretty much in line with everything else... its going to depend on your tune and how you drive your car.

GingaBreadMan 01-31-2010 03:25 PM

On their website they have a list of authorized installers. Check to see where they are in your state and stop by the shop. Hopefully they will answer your questions. I have been dragging my feet because of the weather and it's not urgent that I get it right this minute. I'm still having fun with my Z in stock form and still whipping a$$ on the road.

StillenZ 01-31-2010 03:28 PM

yea i hear ya... I talked to their "authorized installer" near me... After the install he takes the car down the road to the nearest dyno and lets that guy dyno it... I just don't know how comfortable I am with all of that... IDK... I found a guy with a dyno closer to me but seems like he works on a lot of american muscle... Gonna take a trip to his shop next week to check it out/see what he thinks about STS, if anything

GingaBreadMan 01-31-2010 04:34 PM

STS mainly deals with american cars. That single turbo 350z is one of the few imports that have a rear mounted turbo. I let them know had bad their promotion is. Most ppl have no idea that they exist. They are missing out on a huge market share because import guys don't have a clue there are other turbo options available. I tried to make them aware of the amount of interest that's on this forum.

GingaBreadMan 02-02-2010 12:48 PM

I have great news guys. I just got off the phone with Andrew from STS, he handles sales. He spoke to the R&D guys and they are interested in making a kit for us. They just need to get a 370z in the shop. I don't know if we have any forum members in the Utah area, but if we do that would be the final step. I hope someone can make it out there. Give Andrew a call, they have the phone issues taken care of. I did my best, let's get this done.

Solus 02-02-2010 01:00 PM

I have some leave saved up maybe I will call them drive out drop off my car and come back and get it when its done.

Brazilbro 02-02-2010 01:27 PM

:driving: finally , if no one does it ill ship mine out!

GingaBreadMan 02-02-2010 02:13 PM

Lol I was thinking the same thing

Wow... I love what I am hearing... wow... wow..I might just have to make the drive... I just really like the idea that they will personally be working on it... I mean if anyone knows STS I think they probably do... FML DECISIONS DECISIONS.... I sure was hoping to see some supercharger numbers by now!

370zdub 02-02-2010 05:39 PM

Where are these guys at in Utah, get their address and I may swing buy and see how sincere their interest is.

GingaBreadMan 02-02-2010 05:47 PM

Just goto their website all the info is there. Andrew said give them a call and whoever drops of a Z, STS will work something out with them

Thx for posting this. Try this email:Andrew@ststurbo.com. I told Andrew about this forum and what we have been talking about. He would like someone to give him a link to this thread sent to his email. If one of you can do that it would be great. Whoever volunteers let us know so we don't all send the link.

i got it...lol.. I wanna see this thing happen... I've been lookin at STS for years.

StillenZ 02-02-2010 07:09 PM

email sent... hopefully I was persuasive enough to get him to come on here and answer some questions.

GingaBreadMan 02-02-2010 07:57 PM

Thank u StillenZ. I'm sure he will jump on. Hopefully STS will become a sponsor. I starting to get excited. Let's get a group buy started lol

motoextreme 02-02-2010 08:04 PM

Thanks guys for taking lead on this. Interested to see what comes out of it. I was thinking about building my own at one point but I don't want to F it up :)

Zguy 02-02-2010 08:48 PM

Im sure they will jump on if they think it will create some worth while business.

StillenZ 02-02-2010 08:59 PM

I think they would be crazy not to. I feel like if I had a product to offer anyone on here I would spend night and day selling. There are so many Z owners hungry for new stuff and I think the guys that spend time on here answering questions and promoting there product are doing it right.

edit:forgot to mention, look at F.I. Exhaust threads... they are like 200 pages long and have damn near a hundred units sold (mostly on the forum i believe)

Zguy 02-02-2010 09:09 PM

Oh I completely agree with you but I dont think they really pushed the 350z much to get the sales they wanted and they may just think its a waste of time.
