One question I have after having a heavy piece of raod debrie hit my bumber then go under the car and tear some things up is how do they protect the turbos and lines from something like this?

thats cool man, ask lots of questions too. Like how do they keep the long intakes up in pressure or boost or whatever it is, blow off valve or recirculating diverter valve etc.? How do they deal with the lag? Im assuming this will be a TT right? A quick and easy and less expensive TT would be great for price wars here.

I'm going a step further then details. I sent them a very long email this morning with what I have in mind, I really hope they like it and if they do I'll make sure you see every second of it.
You guys know me, I move QUICK. I'll take my car in for a baseline tomorrow if they go for it. Keep your fingers crossed for me. Thanks for the support as always!

Well let me ask this, do you understand how a turbocharging system works? It's not like a blow-dryer shooting pressure through a mile long tube. It's more like us taking a straw and blowing through it. The amount of air turbos tend to produce are insane. |

I understand to a point, Ive had two Audi TTs that I was into modding and all to include upgrading the turbo on one. With these cars they used a recirculating diverter valve to help keep unused air in the intake system to help keep pressure up and not a blow off valve which just throws it away. I think that if they do something like this the length wont be a factor either, plus once air is moving it will continue to be there moving, its not like the piping will lose all the air and have to start over again. Plus ive always heard that with turbos you want a larger diameter exhaust, to a point, so as not to create much back pressure as the turbo itself does that and to go along with that you would want a better flowing air intake too.

really recirculating valves aren't for keeping the pressure up, they simply don't screw with the fuel tune on a car that comes with a draw through MAF sensor. Any type of blow off valve or recirculating valve is only there 2 do one purpose and that is remove pressure so the the compressor wheel doesn't go into surge (which allows the wheel to keep spinning faster/longer so boost stays up) it's not recycling the pressure it is allowing the turbo to get back up to pressure faster.

On a rear mount kit you want to keep the exhaust diameter small like 2.5" in order to maintain velocity. they also use relatively small charge piping which is no bigger than the outlet of the compressor housing in order to increase boost response. Honestly i don't think we have a large enough engine to support a twin turbo rear mount setup, maybe a single rear mount.

All points well taken. Bear with me, I wrote them a long email and if I do not hear back I'll call tomorrow but trust me when I say you'll like the outcome. We'll start a whole new thread on the situation once its confirmed.
