Newly TT and AFR/Idle problems
I was wondering if anyone could shed some light on something I'm experiencing with my 2010 40th 370z. I recently had AAM's TT installed by a local performance shop, and tuned with UpRev. My problem is only with the AFR and low RPMs/idling. The car has been tuned so that the idle RPMs are around 1100rpm to account for the larger fuel injectors (DW 1000cc), but the AFR though normally fluctuation around the 14-15 mark, will spike to the 22 or so area for about 5 secs before settling back down. This is just while the car is in neutral only/clutch pressed in. When it jumps up like this, the car will vibrate rather violently and I can immediately smell what seems to be fuel. Today being the 3rd day with the car, it has now thrown an engine code as well, and happened during one of these many "spasms" of AFR.
Now I don't yet have a fuel return system, which is on order, as it was suggested that this could help with this, but I just wanted other's take on this perhaps being the only thing needed for a solution? When under load, the car is excellent in terms of boost, power, etc... It is only at idle that concerns me. Thanks! What's the code that pops up?

I haven't been able to look at the code that's thrown since I don't have the equipment, but it's going over to the shop tomorrow. The AFR issue happened at least 10 times over the weekend without throwing a code. It just happened to throw it today for whatever reason I guess?

Your Uprev cable will let you pull and clear codes.

Not much help we can provide without knowing what the car is telling you is wrong. If you don't have an UpRev cable I suggest you get one. You have stepped into the world of boosting a factory NA car you are always going to want to know what is going on with it. |
Thanks guys. I'll reply back when I get the code thrown and advise status.

With it spiking lean, I'd keep it out of boost even if it seems fine. Honestly, with any fueling issue like that I'd garage it until I know what's going on.

Sounds like someone didn't spend enough time tuning it for start up/idle conditions.

It's back at the shop getting ready for the fuel return system then back on the dyno for tuning the idle some more.

Congrats on your newly boosted z! Hope your issue gets resolved:tiphat:

Do yourself a favor and buy a Bluetooth obdII dongle for $25. Download a free app called Torque. Read codes, clear codes and get vital stats off your car.

Thanks, I was already looking at DashCommand as well but not sure if that shows you codes and such.

Hey guys, just to wrap this up... Got the car back after the install of the fuel return system. Seems to have fixed all the idle issues. Car is very stable now, and pulls like a bat out of hell :P Thank you for all your information and help!

Nothing like a boosted VQ
