If GTM folds I can have the 4 brackets that mount the supercharger/alternator/power steering pump reproduced. If some one else can cover the intercooler and charge pipes. I also have canned tunes for the 1.0 and 1.5 setups. Last I would go the factory Rotrex pulley system. As an update, i got the whipple in last week. Installed it to the mustang over the weekend.
As for it fitting the VHR... NO WAY NO HOW! The blower itself wont fit, let alone with any sort of intercooler. Before any sort of intake manifold or anything, it already pushes the strut bar up an inch. Maybe a smaller PD blower would, but not this giant. |
So what blower do you think we could fit on w/ a mani and ic that would give us 500-600whp?
How many liters of displacement would a PD blower need to see for it to be a good match on the 37vhr? |
I dont know if I think any blower could fit honestly. There is 4.25" between the strut bar and stock lower intake manifold. At that plane, there is about 6.5" of clearance between the valvecover hardware. My whipple is 5" tall bare headunit, before any adapting plate. Its about 7" wide at the bottom flange, and about 8" wide at its widest, not including the gear box. But this is also a 1000hp+ blower. I am sure you can go way smaller.
If you removed the lower intake manifold and went straight to the heads with ultra short runners.. you could maybe work out about 2" to 2.5" worth of vertical plenum space and intercooler space, it would be really narrow and small displacement. Then you still have to get a pulley attached somehow. You cant go through the timing cover opening on the HR/VHR because the water return pipe is there. So you have no choice but to go over the timing cover. Adding the radius of the pulley over the timing cover and offset of the jackshaft combined and the pulley is going to be through the hood no matter how you slice it... Not sure how much, but I would guess at least an inch. Theres only 2 realistic ways to work it out... 3D scan the engine and a couple potential blower candidates to see if you can make it work at all... or buy a blower or two or three and plop them in there and measure around... but thats risky as you could find yourself 100 hours in before you realize it wont work. The 3D scan method is the only way I would try and tackle it with a PD blower. I feel its just too tight to wing it... but I would never say never. |

I think that on some drag radials, its going to demolish my Z as far as 60' and quarter mile, simply due to grip. Power to weight will be close, I expecting to make around 720-740rwhp and of course the Mustang is a lot heavier car. The Mustangs that get the same trap speeds as my Z, get about 1 second quicker ETs. |
