I have an extra set of bp intake piping if you need it.
I could totally print an intake for the filter too. |
A decent positive displacement blower itself will fit under the hood... I think where you will run into problems is when you remember the intake manifold, intercooler, and pulley.
The timing chain covers and 60 degree block wont fit the blower at the bottom with the manifold on top like the hellcats or ZR1, so you have to put the blower on the top like the typical mustang setups. By the time the SC pulley clears the timing cover its probably already through the hood, and you probably still dont have enough space for a plenum and intercooler underneath it. Hopefully next week my 2.9L whipple for my mustang will be here. I will take a look and see if it is even REMOTELY a possibility or just completely no-way. I think I know the answer but I will have the required stuff sitting around to look-see. |
I think you would have to run the drive unit out the back and down the side of the unit similar to stillen's Titan unit:
http://www.stillen.com/prodimages/re...lrg_407560.jpg Then you build a bracket and tie it into the pulley system. I think the biggest hurdle would be the Fuel rails and lower intake manifold... next would be to ensure you can get the strut bar back on the car... |
The unit would most likely be a whipple unit anyway...
|
My whipple thats coming has that built in
https://whipplesuperchargers.com/ima...it.279_800.jpg I think it will be a big mess for the VHR... especially with the dual throttle and all. I just dont see how the air piping can fit over the timing covers anywhere.. So the inlet would probably have to be in the rear, I am not sure if we can do a rear inlet that goes both directions while still having a rear drive for the blower. But I will peak around the different configurations they offer and see if I notice anything. |
You could cast an Inlet head to house two throttle bodies and run piping to one side. This would mitigate both of those issues. The dual throttle bodies definitely pose an issue and regardless both pipes will have to go in one direction similar to the current stillen supercharger kit.

I think no matter how you slice it, the pulley or jackshaft will be in the way on one side for the throttle

Charles, just duplicate gtm's kit and sell it to us! I'm sure alot of people are interested. :)
|
I would never duplicate someone elses work... but that doesnt mean I couldnt make something better that is partly inspired by it.
Problem is, I am in the middle of an intake manifold, turbo manifolds, crazy FMIC setup, and an updated road race pump. Maybe this summer I could look into putting together a SC, but I need to finish whats on my plate first! Anyone have a blown/junk Rotrex charger laying around? If I had that, I could try passing the bracket design off on Brandon.. he would probably be interested in the project. |

Count me in as well

I can imagine the whine with the VQ behind it.
Awhile back I wanted to do this. |

The whine was toned down a bunch by having the intake muffled through the turbo. But before that with the stage 4 pulley you could hear me coming from 4 blocks away with no exhaust note. |
