When installing the larger 3.5" thick heat exchanger, no idea about the smaller one, there is no room to fit the part, I ended up mounting my heat exchanger underneath the crash bar, some people put it further in front, some people further behind. So depends on where you install your core I guess.
the heat exchanger core completely covers on my install where the metal shroud is meant to go, other people who installed the larger unit, reported not installing this part also and no issues with their idle, my idle is completely fine.
just keep it in mind when you do your install, if you have issues with the idle, you might have to fab something up, otherwise if you are going with the frozenboost core, you shouldn't really need to do anything
