Climate control question

On my base z only lukewarm air comes through the vents unless I turn the temp dial to max setting. Checked coolent level. Is this normal ?Attachment 99151

Dunno about other Z's mine is a 2015 and sucker bakes me I have to turn down to 68-70 after it warms up the interior so if yours is similar then I would say its abnormal. My heated seats do the same. I turn it up to high for about 5 mins then it gets shut off.

My 370Z and a 2009 G37 sedan both have excellent HVAC systems. Perhaps your heater core is clogged or a valve problem with the HVAC system.

I dunno. Will try again but this time pointing the heat flaps to dash area only and see if it makes a difference .bearing in mind outside temps were approx 59f and I had the AC button off. So was using just the heatcore.

I don't remember having any problems getting hot air out the vents but I'm usually more concerned that my feet are warm. :)

I'd check and make sure the dampers are moving the way they should.

It helps if you let the coolant get up to temp. :)

I did mate, the car had been driven for over an hour. The settings where exactly as the picture I posted. Like yourself the footwell area is always warm hot hence why here in fl I've almost always got the ac on.

Believe me hot air would come out , but only when the dial was set to the max figure which I think is 90F. Else it was Luke warm.

I dunno. Maybe someone else can do some experimenting and report back.

Check your coolant level

Just found an old thread on here way back with the guy having similar issues to me.

Did some further tests. I think this is a non issue design of the matter. Basically when the heat is set to go floor and face it gets cool quick meaning luke warm comes out. But if I set it to face ( center ) only then it behaves relatively normal. My belief is that the sensor under the knee bolster area detects the warm air and cuts down the heat output when in this mode.

IIRC, the FSM has a rather detailed description of how the HVAC system works.

My faulty memory tells me that it looks at cabin temp, outside temp, and insolation (top center of dash near bottom of windshield) then adjusts as it sees fit.

I rarely run the heater, but if it's anything like the A/C, it will work better with recirculation turned on.
