Headrest

I have a 2010 roadster. The drivers side headrest will not go up. When I fiddle with it I can feel the frame of the rest moving behind the material in the front of the seat. Any thoughts as to how to resolve this?

Does the passenger side go up?

Yes, the passenger side is fine. It feels like the posts the headrest that go down into the seat are out of the track if that makes sense.

Headrest height

I am really having a time with my headrests. I am 6 feet and the tilt of the headrest pushes my head forward enough that it hurts my neck after a while.

I am pretty sure that we can't angle the headrests back and the only option is to raise them up. The problem I am experiencing is: Raising the headrest is really hard and, now that I finally got the drivers side rest up, mine only goes up about three inches. I have a '10 roadster and am wondering if the height that the headrest can be risen is limited in the convertible.

How high can you coupe and roadster guys get your headrests? I am getting a little desperate here, I just got the car last week and am so thrilled with it on every level. I had an 04 350 a back in 04 and did very much enjoy the car... until my son stuck it into a tree. The 370, however, is noticeably nicer. Both my boys recently got 350's, a coupe and a roadster, and that are pretty envious of daddy.

What about reclining the seat enough that your comfortable and your head/neck aren't resting on it

I appreciate your suggestion Chuy. I am doing that today and it does help a little, however leg room is now comprised. Is your headrest loose, does it wiggle back and forth?

This is interesting, I'm 6'1" and do not have this problem. I also drive with the seatback almost straight up and down, my head doesn't even touch the head rest.

That being said, it is technically a head restraint - not a head rest. It's not made for you to rest your head on.

An evaluation performed by NHTSA in 1982 on passenger cars found that "integral" head restraints—a seat back extending high enough to meet the 27.5 in (698.5 mm) height requirement—reduces injury by 17 percent, while adjustable head restraints, attached to the seat back by one or more sliding metal shafts, reduce injury by 10 percent. NHTSA has said this difference may be due to adjustable restraints being improperly positioned.

Here's a question, that may not need to be asked, but are the or the right way? This is a new car? Correct? PDI may have put them on the wrong side, it can be done...just asking.

Sorry reread the OP's Post, new to you, someone may have switched them after a cleaning...

Just to clarify, the frame of the rest is supposed to move in the seat as part of a safety device.

tmk988 12-22-2014 05:53 PM

That is my understanding. I have to pull really hard just to move the headrest up an inch. I suspect that I should be able to pull it up a few inches. And now, the same issue is happening to the passenger side. Makes me wonder if I am doing something wrong.

tmk988 12-22-2014 06:00 PM

I don't think they are on backwards, they look correct, they angle towards the seat from the top. I am not using it as a headrest, I just need it higher so that the top of it, which is angling forward and hence keeping my head from a natural sitting position, is not pushing my head forward.

The temporary solution of just moving the seat forward and the seat reclined worked today but my legs really are cramped. I don't understand why I can't raise the headrest.

I appreciate you guys brain storming with me...

Op,

I merged your threads.

There is a small button on the seat under the headrest to release them...
Just throwing out ideas at this point.
