Leather Seats - Just the sitting surface?

It appears that only the sitting surface of the Touring leather seat is real leather (exc the mid section) and the rest is vinyl. Is this correct?

What other part of the interior is leather?

The inserts are synthetic suede (alcantara).

Yes. I know that. I am referring to the rest of the seat - side & back etc..

As far as I can tell there is no difference between the seat bottom and the rest of the seat. What makes you think that it is vinyl?

I heard that most of the seats only have leather on the sitting surface (front portion) and the rest is just vinyl.

I don't know for 370z but many cars are this way and you can't tell with naked eye. The bolsters on sides and bottoms are usually a synthetic material. I've had gm, Toyota, honda, and fords that were this way. My guess besides cost savings would be that the synthetic hold up better to getting in and out of the car. Thus less complaining from customers trying to get warranty repair for messed up leather from sliding in and out of the seats. In cars where I knew this was the case I could not really tell by looking wih naked eye. You could feel it after conditioning. Or see it when magnified. Typically you can tell by the way they advertise the leather option. Verbiage will read "leather appointed" seats.

that's exactly what I heard and it was likely due to cost. I think only the high end cars come with full leather seats. I am pretty sure the Z does not have full leather seats.

I was conditioning the seats and it appears that only portion of the front sitting surface is leather (excluding the middle section).
