Just to add, I've told myself I will never go rep kit again. Only authentic from here on out.

The side skirts just need a small amount of prep. One had a bit of a wow in it but I will discuss that later.

http://i1375.photobucket.com/albums/...ps41a7a12f.jpg

Then the sacrilege! I had them sand down the CF Seibon spoiler and prep it for paint. The shop wanted me to keep it CF, but I wasn't going that route...

http://i1375.photobucket.com/albums/...ps8f9a5478.jpg

Then into the paint booth!

http://i1375.photobucket.com/albums/...ps82d3e332.jpg

http://i1375.photobucket.com/albums/...psddc0035d.jpg

Followed by final fitting.

Finally it was out of the body shop! It was there for 6 weeks.... over 40 hours of labour to get the kit done. The quote was $2100 for paint, body work and mounting/fitting. The actual bill was over $6000...!

The owner and I sat down and worked it all out to $3500 for the work. He underestimated the time for his body guy to fit and finesse the panels to look just right. I wanted a good job and knew the quote was going to be low, but I was not prepared for a 300% surcharge! Bottom line is: talk to the body shop and make sure they are accurate with their quote. You don't want a cheap job, but you don't want to put their kids through college either!

Finally home!

http://i1375.photobucket.com/albums/...ps0d959e07.jpg

A couple final touches like the Fairlady emblem and a custom made tow hook!

http://i1375.photobucket.com/albums/...ps83abd144.jpg

The stock HKS tips still on here. I had the FringeXVO tips sent out for new powdercoat!

http://i1375.photobucket.com/albums/...ps8688b011.jpg

http://i1375.photobucket.com/albums/...psde750e54.jpg

http://i1375.photobucket.com/albums/...psce1ac484.jpg

As you can see here, the side skirts have still not been put on at this time. I would need to find some time to 'fix' the slight wow in the driver side skirt.

http://i1375.photobucket.com/albums/...pse4f4e236.jpg

http://i1375.photobucket.com/albums/...psd5407c6f.jpg

A couple with the Fringe tips on!

http://i1375.photobucket.com/albums/...ps35ecb750.jpg

http://i1375.photobucket.com/albums/...ps0b05eac5.jpg

http://i1375.photobucket.com/albums/...psff817b5a.jpg

Then up into the air to have the skirts mounted finally!

http://i1375.photobucket.com/albums/...ps6071f9ea.jpg

This pic shows the side that had the wow. If you look you can see the white silicone filler in place by the driver door corner. It dries to a clear finish and then coloured black to hide the small gap. The passenger side attached no problem.

http://i1375.photobucket.com/albums/...ps4d257eda.jpg

And that is it!

Thanks for reading! I am happy to answer all questions.

It looks really good man and just so you know the higher end amuse kits all have about the same install bill...the average ive heard is 6k...ps i love the fairlady z decal very nice touch

sgosh 08-04-2016 03:08 PM

That looks stunning. Quite the production to get it to the finished stage. But it looks like the wait was worth it.

$6000 ... with their obvious ocd attention to detail, that's pretty good.

wheee! 08-18-2016 09:08 AM

Thanks for the feedback! Still loving this kit.

How does the end-state cost compare, genuine Amuse vs. clone? Not specifically asking you, madeinjapan, but anyone who can weigh in.
