Default Another fog light question

I have been reading ( in depth this time ) a lot of fog light posts on here. I have come to the conclusion that I would like the JDM rear fog ( genuine nissan ) and also a wiring harness with rocker switch and relay ( damn $$$ ).

I would like the fog to be used only in adverse weather conditions, none of the silly 4th brake light blinking madness stuff from the EVO R crowd

The closest write up DIY is from the forum Admin AK370Z, was there any more developments in this process that I have maybe perhaps missed? I did read another ex member Spear something or another that simply tapped into his BCM module. I am still leaning towards the relay harness rocker switcg and jdm rear fog light route, approx $250. Any thoughts?

That's really a simple install that you want & you do not need the harness. I would just tap into the parking lights (chances are you'll want the rest of your lights on when you want your fog lamp on) for power, & run it thru your rocker switch back to the JDM light.
Oh & I'm part of that "silly 4th brake light blinking" crowd, but i put a duel element holder so it functions as a fog lamp as well

My thoughts, I like the madness --- blink on. Also, there are other ways of switching the lamp on without spending an exorbitant amount of money on a stalk. The circuit is so simple no sense tapping onto the module. I'd let the module focus on controlling the more complicated electronics and circuitry. But that's just me.

Not sure if your referring to my comment about tapping into parking lights, but I was referring to tapping into the tail lights (parking light circuit) not the stalk module.

But as you mention the circuit is simple & you really don't need to spend a bunch of money of the harness.

I'm with you on this one felix. The FL is so simply why connect it to a control module. Should be tapped onto the tail lights.

I wish it were that easy. I actually want the brighter light output of a incandecent fog light only when A/ It is foggy or B/ Heavy rain storms. I really do not want to have it on all the time with lights. I was born and raised in Europe, nothing worse than t having an idiot in front of you driving with his or her fogs on in normal conditions.

I also dont care for the stalk, the switch is fine with me.

the set up that is on Z store is the best way to go if you want control to turn in on and off when needed. i agreee no need for flashing, coming on when brakes are applied, or running when park lights are on just use it the way you want to. the install is straight forward and nothing more is needed. price for that harness is a bit stiff but it is pretty much plug n play.

Or you could by a Canadian model that has the fog light operative at purchase.

I often wonder why the US model does not come with an operative fog light? Can some one clue me in?

Limey, that expensive harness is completely unnecessary. Buy enough wiring to reach from the fog light to the center console with proper routing. Then buy a switch to connect it. A simple SPST toggle switch should do it. Shouldn't cost you but a few bucks and maybe an hour or two of your time.

It is that easy, you use your own rocker switch to disrupt power back to the fog lamp. It will only turn on when you have your tailights (if you tap into there as suggested) on & you use your rocker or toggle switch. Your tailights will work as normal.
