Quick question, is there supposed to be one red LED near the corner of each rear tailight closest to the fender? I was installing a pair of license plate LEDs

rear tail light side marker or whatever its called
Quick question, is there supposed to be one red LED near the corner of each rear tailight closest to the fender?
I was installing a pair of license plate LEDs and noticed the back lights dont have these, perhaps they only come on when in D? I was under the impression US spec ones have these for legal reasons.
