Need help finding a good seat
 

Hey guys, I need help finding a good bucket seat. I bought a set of Stätus reclinable seats but unfortunately with the bracket and the sliders they sit just a bit too tall for me. I'm 6'2" and my head is about 1" or less from the ceiling when I sit in them.

I'm wondering if you guys have any ideas for me, is there a different mounting bracket that sits lower than the ones that come from Status? Or can someone recommend a seat that sits lower? I was looking at the Bride Diego II R seats, they look comfy and seem like they might be OK, but I was WO feeling if you experts had any advice for me.

I'd take the sliders off the ones I have but I really want to retain that function. Basically I'm looking for a seat that's just a stock seat that has a little more grip. I don't need a super race application since this is my daily driver. Comfort and sliding are at the top of the list.

Does someone want to trade me their 2015 Nismo Recaros? :bowrofl:

I'm probably going to get a Bride Stradia II. It looks like a good "streetable" race seat. It's part of their low-max series and you can also buy a low mount rail for it. So it will probably offer more headroom.

you could see if your Status seats would work with any of the Bride rails.

A bit OT but, hows the lumbar support on the Status vs the stock seat (which doesn't have any really)?

I wish I could answer that but I haven't been able to sit comfortably in the seat yet and get it adjusted. I installed it yesterday and drove to work this morning, the seat feels generally comfy but I couldn't adjust the back to the right angle so I was slightly hunched over. The other downfall to these seats is that it's hard to adjust the back reclining angle with only one knob, and almost impossible to reach the second knob with the center console against it.

If I could sit 2-3 inches lower and adjust the back more easily it would be a wonderful seat. When I had the seat sitting in my living room it was very comfy and supported the back well, but I've yet to feel it in the car.

I'm 6'4" I feel your struggle. I need more leg room than anything. Is there any leg room to be gained with aftermarket seats y'all think?

I'm not an expert but I would think no. At least, not much. The seat bottoms are roughly the same size, certainly not smaller enough to make a noticeable difference.

Good news though, I called Status racing and they suggested Buddy Club mounting brackets, apparently they're the absolute lowest ones made for our cars. I'm gonna order one of those and see how it works.

I'm glad that you found an option that does not require replacing your seats. They're expensive enough as it is and it does not look like they sell quickly on the forum.

Thanks guys. Yeah I was sad at first cause I really loved these seats and I didn't want to have to get rid of them. Hopefully this will all work out. I've definitely learned a lot about shopping for race seats.

This is some great info. I would love to see the new seats as I have been eyeing the Status SPAs. Plain and simple don't fit in my stock seats it seems at times. I am not sure if they are universal with the 70/37, but I had seen these seat rails on G35 forums. I know you are looking for mounting brackets, but maybe could use these too.

Having sat in a set of Bride Stradia in a 370z, you basically gain head room, but I am 6'4" also and by being able to sit up straighter I had some more leg room. Now if you are more leg you might only see a marginal gain, but having the head room I was able to sit much straighter.

Well I will tell you that the SPA's are a tight fit for me. The reclineable ones have 11.5" between the bolsters towards the back of the seat where your butt is. The fixed back seats have 12". I'm 6'3" at 200lbs, to look at me I'd seem averaged size or maybe ever so slightly on the thin side, and these seats are tight for me. My hip bones where my legs connect are extremely snug against the side bolsters. Also, they force your legs closer together while driving so if you have a stick your clutch knee will come up a bit more while shifting, I had to raise my steering wheel about an inch or so.

Not really, I'm trying to do research to see if there are any other mounting brackets that sit lower than the Planted ones I have. Mine sit a good two inches off the floor. If I can't figure anything else out then I'll have to chop the legs off of my driver side bracket and cut it down and reweld it to sit lower.

On a side note, I've broken the seat in some and I love it. it's super comfy, the only problem is that I have a minor back injury from my recent accident (5 protruding discs, getting therapy, acupuncture, and shots in my back) and I need to ha e an arched back right now. The seats have kind of a curved back where you lean forward just a bit, so while they would normally be perfect it makes my back ache after a bit of driving. Someone with no back injuries will love them though, as long as you're less than a 36 waist. I'm 6'3" 206lbs with a 36 waist and the seats are pretty snug on me.
