Had it happened 3 darn times since 2010. My insurance has a glass deductible of 50.00 bucks. I always go the OEM Nissan glass route. est ..about 600.00 Best Of Luck... |
I had the same issue with my Rx8 a long time ago and when I called the dealership they quoted me around $250-300 dollars.. Again, this was a while back but I believe the 370z should be around this number.. Someone correct me if I am wrong.. I never ended up getting it replaced and sold that car with the crack. lol. Hope that helps some.

am also sure the Insurance company hits my premium for this added addition.......No breaks from a insurance company ever...Go Nissan OEM... Cheers... |
What's the difference between Nissan glass and other windshields? I've got a couple rock chips and one in the driver's view so the repair guy won't fix it. I got a quote of $350 from an auto glass shop but I'm sure it wasn't OEM. I've got $100 deductible on glass so it doesn't matter to me. What's the difference?
|
The difference in glass is the AMOUNT of material used in the making of glass. Cheaper glass is thinner and weaker more expensive glass is more thicker and springy. The oem glass from what i hear is 600+. I called Geico and they said that my premium wont go up just from that and that my deductible will only be $50 bucks and Im gonna give it to SafeLite when they come and check it out. So hopefully everything ends well and my car looks brand spankin new.
|
I had the windshield replaced on my 350Z due to a rock causing a small cracks. The cracks usually become larger over time with differences in temperature. My insurance has no deductible on windshields, and I think this generally the case with most insurance companies. I had Safelite do it and I was satisfied. Haven't had the problem on my 370Z but as much as I drive it, I'm sure it will happen sooner or later.
|
Farmer's insurance does not cover windshields outside of deductible requirements (reports the owner over the years of a 2005 Grand Prix gxp, 2010 escape, a 2011 mustang gt (twice) and a 2014 escape (wife likes escapes)). All of which had windshield replacements where the first $500 came out of my pocket :shakes head:.
|
I replaced my windshield for a non-oem one for $230. They came to my house and installed it within 1.5 hours.
|
I had my windshield replaced last October, luckily insurance in FL covers it completely. OEM Nissan glass would have been $400 or so out of pocket and the PPG from Safelite was $0. Allstate said that my 2009 was "too old" to qualify to get the OEM Nissan glass covered 100%.

Forgot to mention I ended up with the PPG over the OEM glass. Its holding up well so far.

Got a PGW (Solargreen Laminate) new windshield last month..$232.:tiphat: Be careful when installing as you will have to remove both a pillars..and also the little rubber tabs at the bottom of the pillars...so far the quality seems to be great.
|
There is so much work to replace the damn windshield. Pillars off to! What the balls I feel bad for this safelite tech man

Wonder how many clips get busted during this process. Also check the dash speakers for scratches.

And make sure your vin plate isnt cut off. This actually happened to a gen2 mazdaspeed 3 once. The cheese cutter cut through the vin plate.

I was quoted 1000$ install canadian at nissan dealership thought they were joking, nope. 380$ at non dealership installed just doesn,t have Nissan logo.
|
This is what I was just quoted:
A/M $324.55 OEM $989.30 I would HIGHLY recommend getting your front windshield replaced by someone who has AGSC training and certification. Most nationwide chains don't have it and the windshield is incorrectly installed. SafeWindshields.org™ | Dedicated to providing information about proper auto glass replacements. |
Same thing just happened to me. Damn rock from the freeway just as I got on it. I just bought my 2014 Nismo 370z in January. I still only have 1200 miles on it. I feel raped and violated! The bottom corner on the driver side has about a 1/4" chip with spider web crack about 10 inches total diameter. Geico said since it's Nismo I have to replace with OEM but they will only charge $50 deductible. They use Safelite to do the repair. Does anyone know if they do good work and are reputable? Although it's a minor repair it still feels devastating.
|
I see this is a common thing with these dam cars, just happen to me! Small chip driving to work, came out from work, 10 inch crack.........WTF!!! Going with the lesser price of $289 I was just quoted cause it doesn't seem the $600 OEM windshields do any better with all the dam cracks listed in this thread alone.
|
Just an FYI, make sure is OEM, some windshields fit the Z or any car but when you are driving the section that meets the frame has bends that make your peripheral view screwed up, especially when crossing lanes, in one word distorsion :driving:
|
I was at the dealership about a month ago and I decided to ask the parts department about a new OEM windshield, they quoted me at $890... Plus labor.
My windshield looks a little sand blasted, Idk how, but it doesnt bother me much... |
So dropped mine off at the glass place this morning. Guy wasn't sure exactly how to do it, so he called the Nissan Dealer. Dealer told him that you have to replace the entire A+ pillar??? Which has to be painted??? Does this sound right? They've already ordered the parts.

So they just brought it back. Said the dealership told them that 99% of the time they break the clips and the A+ pillar has to be replaced. That makes zero sense to me. I mean, they're talking about new pillars & all, having to get them painted, etc.
It's a local shop, and I literally have the only 370Z in town, so I know they've never done one. Going to call my insurance agent. |
If they're careful and use pry tool, they should not break any clips. Had mine replaced by a guy that ran his own windshield replacement company. Had to tell him how to take off the pillar covers. I stood there and watched him remove the pillar covers and he didn't break any tabs. He took his time to pry them off.
|
I had mine done by Safelite a couple years ago and the guy showed up at my place of business and replaced it with no issues. He said sportscars can be a pain but it was fairly easy, he just took his time.
