Same thing just happened to me. Damn rock from the freeway just as I got on it. I just bought my 2014 Nismo 370z in January. I still only have 1200 miles on it. I feel raped and violated! The bottom corner on the driver side has about a 1/4" chip with spider web crack about 10 inches total diameter. Geico said since it's Nismo I have to replace with OEM but they will only charge $50 deductible. They use Safelite to do the repair. Does anyone know if they do good work and are reputable? Although it's a minor repair it still feels devastating.

I see this is a common thing with these dam cars, just happen to me! Small chip driving to work, came out from work, 10 inch crack.........WTF!!! Going with the lesser price of $289 I was just quoted cause it doesn't seem the $600 OEM windshields do any better with all the dam cracks listed in this thread alone.

Just an FYI, make sure is OEM, some windshields fit the Z or any car but when you are driving the section that meets the frame has bends that make your peripheral view screwed up, especially when crossing lanes, in one word distorsion :driving:

I was at the dealership about a month ago and I decided to ask the parts department about a new OEM windshield, they quoted me at $890... Plus labor.
My windshield looks a little sand blasted, Idk how, but it doesnt bother me much... |
So dropped mine off at the glass place this morning. Guy wasn't sure exactly how to do it, so he called the Nissan Dealer. Dealer told him that you have to replace the entire A+ pillar??? Which has to be painted??? Does this sound right? They've already ordered the parts.

So they just brought it back. Said the dealership told them that 99% of the time they break the clips and the A+ pillar has to be replaced. That makes zero sense to me. I mean, they're talking about new pillars & all, having to get them painted, etc.
It's a local shop, and I literally have the only 370Z in town, so I know they've never done one. Going to call my insurance agent. |
If they're careful and use pry tool, they should not break any clips. Had mine replaced by a guy that ran his own windshield replacement company. Had to tell him how to take off the pillar covers. I stood there and watched him remove the pillar covers and he didn't break any tabs. He took his time to pry them off.

I had mine done by Safelite a couple years ago and the guy showed up at my place of business and replaced it with no issues. He said sportscars can be a pain but it was fairly easy, he just took his time.
