clear bra paint chip

Hi all, looking for some advice
i got home last night and noticed that i had a chip in my clear bra on the hood
there is definetly a small tear or hole in the clear bra, really hard to tell if there is a chip in the paint underneath
anyone experienced this, can clear bra be repaired,
if there is a chip in paint, can you just use paint chip stick to repair?

Sorry for your issue, and I'm'ma gonna let you finish, but, I think for as much as a clearbra costs you could get a new fascia and have it painted.

He should be able to just have the relevant piece replaced without having to buy the whole kit. Like he says the chip is on his hood. He can have just the hood piece removed and replaced. There's no need to replace the fascia piece. My installer charged $200 for the hood piece, which is certain less than getting a new fascia and having it painted, lol.

Yep, they are. That's why I would never attempt it myself and just pay my installer to do it. My guy actually comes out to my house to do it in my garage, and he's reasonably priced as well, so I can't complain. In any case, better than having to buy a new hood or take it into a body shop. Mind you, if there's actual damage to the paint then that's another story.

If the bra actually tore, you're going to need to replace portion that was torn. I had my passenger a-pillar protected and had some road debris tear the film. From the outside, it looked like it might have dented or even chipped the paint, but it did its job and protected the paint. I had to get the film on the a-pillar replaced, but the cost of film was far less than a new paint job.

If you were going to get your fascia repainted, you would have to deal with taking it to a shop, dealing with down time with the car, and have to worry about matching your stock paint job.
Replacing the film took me 30 mins by visiting the shop where I got my clear bra installed.

no issues with facia,
small tear on clear bra on hood, looks more just like a regular paint chip from a rock, but went through the film
i guess ill have to see if there is damage to paint underneath, very hard to tell but looks like there may be

if you can live with it would leave it alone. if you pull up it could potentially pull the paint off too.

^^^ it is not going to pull the paint off the hood. I have had alot of my 3M repleced for the same reason

I thought that's why we have a warranty. My Clear Bra has a 10yr warranty. Hopefully that includes tears. Good luck.

Don't think it covers tears. I believe it is covered for things such as yellowing, or if it is peeling back due to defective adhesive/installation. If a rock comes along and tears it then I don't see why that would be covered under warranty since it did what you paid for it to do.

im not here to argue, but the point is, if the impact was big enough the paint is chipped under there. and when you pull it pulls off the paint with it.

ive had both cases when i pulled up my clearbra...some areas no issue and some areas paint flakes pulled up with the bra... :shakes head:

but ofcourse you can always touch it up and clearbra it later. :)
