Pre cut clear bra
I'm considering a clear bra and trying to find a quality pre cut kit. I see xpel, invisible mask, car protection pros and clear mask on a quick search. I will not be installing it myself. I have a friend that works for a graphics company that does wraps for companies. They mainly do ad wraps on trucks, vans and buses. They don't do clear bras, but the installer will do it for me if I get the kit. I am looking to cover the bumper, front of fenders, 1/4 hood and mirrors.
I'm looking at something like these two kits http://www.invisiblemask.com/ed_bind...image/6084.jpg http://www.invisiblemask.com/ed_bind...I-6087-HFM.jpg |
Wats the question?

My installer used a kit for 3M Scotchguard. Great stuff. Coverage was exactly what you mentioned. Looks beautiful on the pearl white. Really appreciate that bugs literally just wipe right off with a little Plexus or Waterless Wash.

They sell precut film. I installed Xpel ultimate last yr. Its tricky to pull and install but with some patience anyone can do it. |
Btw, the half bra on the hood and fender looks like crap.
Better to get the entire hood wrapped by a pro. |

Economy plays a factor in clear bra as I am sure you aware being an installer. I'd rather have some protection than no protection for sure. As for looks of a line on the hood or fender or front roof line I in all honesty expect that. Obviously if this was my trade and I knew how to install I would do that above what you mentioned. However as a paying customer - over kill. |

Look at dom_z his car has a clear bra custom cut and no lines showing, also a lot of the cheap 3m film will show swirls

Credit to Kenchen, you will see lines depending on what angle you put your head towards the panels and light / reflections. :roflpuke2: Either way, I paid for my install and I wasnt a qualified clear film installer else like I said I would have done the whole hood and fenders plus folded them under panels for disrection purposes. But dang, I do more than 1500 miles a year on my ride and funds fill up gas and maintenance items on my Z. |
Anyone have experience with clearmask? They offer 3M film, appear to be a reputable company and have a kit that covers the bumper, hood, fenders, mirrors, a pillars and hood for $300. Almost too good to be true.
http://www.clearmask.com/kitimages_r/NIS02309BA.jpg The xpel full hood fender and bumper kit is pushing $1000 just for the film and beyond what I've wanting to spend. |
Wow this thread turned to crap real quick lol

i tried the partial fender/hood. i took it off the following day. yah, $200 down the drain, but hell, i rather NOT see some frikken line each time i see my Z in the garage. :ugh: and chances are, you will get a chip out side that partial wrap. lol as far as swirls, xpel ultimate has self-healing properties... the haze literally fades away. |

there is a trade off if you go cheap. that's the catch.

xpel ultimate and the suntek (which I had and dom_z has) definitely is worth the money.
I've seen the condition the clear bra film gets yellow and swirls up. but better to be protected no doubt about it |
I got clear shield.

Hello all,
As proud sponsors of The370Z.com we want to make sure that y'all receive the best in paint protection film. If anyone has any questions about paint protection film (ppf) feel free to reply, or PM us. To the OP, You mentioned that a friend of yours would be installing the film without any previous experience with PPF. Vinyl wraps and PPF are EXTREMELY different to install. Attachment 90487 Attachment 90488 If you need a recommendation for an installer we have a worldwide installer base here -- XPEL PPF and Clear Bra Dealer Locator -- Here is a brief video of the installation process. XPEL ULTIMATE clear film - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zaZ0J8Ger4M XPEL STEALTH matte finish film - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jih-0qlgKGk Just want to clarify a few things about XPEL ULTIMATE. It comes with a 10-Year Warranty. The film will not yellow, haze, crack, fade, chip, peel, etc... It's also self-healing. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q75L...Q9sjuK6EWGxyni Using a durable automotive clear coat as the top layer allows ULTIMATE to match your paints finish perfectly. Even on a white car. This also makes the film really easy to keep clean. You can use harsh chemicals such as isopropyl alcohol, and lacquer thinner to clean any stubborn bug/bird droppings. Even track rubber. |
