Power Steering Reservoir Relocation
After failing to fabricate the Mishimoto aftermarket reservoir to our car last year and as I begin to work on replicating O&Gs wire tuck, I got to thinking about whether or not it would be possible to relocate the OEM reservoir. That being said has anyone tried it? Does anyone have any suggestions?
The only thing that I keep thinking about (and I haven’t checked to see if it’s even possible yet), Is to make a combo tank with the radiator overflow. I have an aftermarket overflow tank now and I’m wondering if I could do something like the ARC combo can but make the left side a power steering reservoir. Any thoughts? Would there be any restrictions with my idea? What about return lines any issues there?

In for ideas and results.
I know O&G and jtran produced an aftermarket overflow tank for the radiator combo with catch can. So you might be able to do a similar idea with the PS resevoir. I have always been interested in moving mine, with my SC one of my lines rubs and has been replaced twice now. So reducing the distance or routing would be excellent!

Yeah I have a overflow tank very similar to that. Mine is just painted.
I'm wondering if I'll run into trouble with the radiator hose. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1402928721.385346.jpg Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Seeing the TS filter covers makes it seem like that might be a tight fit there.
An idea might be to move the overflow tank left or right a bit to free up some space for the PS resevoir. Also, side note, what catch can setup is that? TS?

That's a good thought, would there be any issues with having longer lines than OEM going to/ from the reservoir? I don't know much about how it works. Any insight there would be helpful.
Yeah, they are Top Secret catch cans.

I know one of my lines is a little longer from the SC setup and I can hear a little noise from the pump working harder.
I don't know all the ins/outs of the fluid v the pump. I am sure at some point the pump would be working to much to move the fluid and cause problems.

I wonder if it's possible to make a small can that fits under the intake filter... Hmmm
Thanks for the input Dreamer, ill definitely look into the length of the lines. I assume if there is a way to make them shorter that's a benefit?? If anyone else wants to chime in it would be appreciated. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

And pics of how you ran the hose? Any pump issues?

I can take some later...it isn't too clean basically zip tied to the back side of the one fan to keep it away from any belt action.lol No issues so far other than I need to remake my pump inlet as it is leaking ever so slightly.

I figured you may have done that route. Any pics would be appreciated. I think Im going to try my one of my two ideas. Although I like the thought of splitting the overflow tank, Im leaning towards seeing if I can fit a small tank under the intake filters.

I guess it was a combo of issues. The only way I could see the Mishimoto reservoir working is if you have some long tube intakes like the Stillen Gen 3s as this provides you with the most space in the OEM area. I was trying to make it work with the Top Secret intakes and there was just no way to do it with the filter covers (they are an awkward shape).
The Mishimoto tank is also a lot deeper than the OEM reservoir, so if you tried to mount it in the same location as OEM you would either hit your hood (causing it not to close) or would need to remove your fender liner. If I remember correctly their tank also causes issues because of the inlet locations. A couple people have made the 350z Weapon R tank work (talk to member Kukpet (his name is Petr)) and it looks pretty good, but I want to eventually shave that whole area to clean it up, so that's out for me. All this said, im not a fabricator so maybe they could make it happen.
