Canadian Model Fog Light Help
Hey everyone,
So after trying to figure this out for quite a while and a tearing everything apart multiple times i'm looking for some help. This might be a really stupid question and it's possible i'm confused (or retarded) from trying so many different things, but here it goes. I've read through almost every single fog light post and can't find the info i'm after. I have the Canadian 40th model which came with the factory fog light and the switch on the signal stalk. All I want to do is swap out the factory fog for the Evo-R smoked one. I don't want to add any features or blinking, just a straight swap. Thinking this would be easy, I cut the wires to the factory fog (red/black) right before the fog light and tried hooking them up to the Evo-R fog (red/black) using the stock harness. For the life of me, I can't get it to work. Thinking I may have damaged something, I soldered all the original connections back together and tested it. Of course, it works just fine. Other than being able to make physical wire connections, I don't have a great understanding of electrical. Am I missing something? Does the fact i'm going from an incandescent bulb to LED's have something to do with it? I assume it doesn't since all the other LED swaps I've done have worked without issue. If this has already been answered, a link would be appreciated. Thanks!! Maurice |

Wow!
I would have sworn that the Canadian model was a dummy too. Your post made me run out and and test it. It works! Sweet! I don't really have an answer to your question. Sorry. |

Well, I guess I am interested in the answer too. I bought an EVO-R light as well. I wouldn't mind using it as a blinking light, but since it is connected to the fog light switch, I can turn it off when I don't want it to blink.

The only thing I can think of, is that the fog light can only be turned on when the headlights are on. Maybe that is the reason why it's not working. You are testing it when the headlights are off.

The instructions that came with the light are the same ones that a few others have posted in the Evo-R fog threads. It's just a small piece of paper that shows which tail light connections need to be made. Thanks for the guesses so far! Any other ideas guys? |
