Walmart..the thin one..not the one with big bubbles..folds nicely and behind the seat it goes when not used.

The crazy thing about this is I'm having the same issue. Mine almost turned gray and was real sticky to the touch. The weird thing about it though is my dash hasn't seen sunlight in a year since its been blown up in the garage... I have no clue why it's doing it. There was no moisture or anything in the Z. Just the dash being weird.

I do not believe that this is just a Nissan or 370Z issue. Cheap materials, the sun, the cold, etc. can all cause premature dash fading. IMHO some of the brand name products that we use to 'beautify' our dash/interiors are the major culprits, hence the sticky, cracking and melting of the dash. I love the idea of wrapping the dash in alcantara but it is expensive.

My Z is a garage queen. and when it is parked in the sun, a sunshade is always placed at the windshield, and those are almost rare occasions. In Louisiana, Cold is not something we know too much about ... Also, I have NEVER used anything on my dash except damp rag to wipe the dust off. Just recently, to clean up the sticky mess, I found a specific Dash Cleaner with no harsh chemicals (took some doing - I'll post the name when I get home...) and used that to clean the mess up. I also do not happen to think the dash on the Z is made of any cheap materials to any extent...

I can safely say that none of the culprits you mentioned are what is causing my dash to have the melt-down look. I believe it is a defect from the factory.

Yeah same here. I just use a dry microfiber towel to wipe dust off. After the sticky stuff appeared I did soap and water. No luck yet. I actually put it out in the sun and it got real sticky, then I cleaned it again and it got a little better. But I think as it sits, it's getting sticky again.

I did 70% Ceramic tint on my front window to help with this issue along with a 6in 4% strip at the top. I also only use a damp cloth to clean the dash.

Nissan is covering a dashboard replacement for the 2008-2009 Altima for a melting, shiny, and cracked dash. The car owner has to pay a $250 deductible. This is the result of a class action lawsuit in floroda and only applies to florida vehicles. If more people spoke up then nissan would cover it. My dash is melting and cracked, its a design flaw and not caused by the owner.

I contacted nissan for my 09 dash splitting and they refused to cover it. I live near Miami. I'm just waiting to save up the cash for a new dash. It's pretty aggravating

I have the sunshield from the Z store at the link below and it works great! But I also make it a habit now to tint the windshield of all my cars. So I've got like a 70% Suntek film on the Z windshield right now. When I forget to put up the sunshield sometimes, at least the tint is there to help keep the car cooler and protect the dash some.
