Volume, Fan, Temp & Tone/Bal Knobs/Dials issue
1 Attachment(s)
Hey guys, just wondering if anyone else is experiencing issues with the center console dials/knobs becoming difficult to use. When adjusting any of them, they tend to jump or skip. Trying to adjust Fan Speed to a little extra suddenly puts it to max speed, or Volume jumps up or down erratically when trying to adjust. Or Tone/Bal settings jumps back and forth when trying to adjust.
The issue started out mild at first and it's slowly getting more frustrating. Have pretty much resorted to using the volume control on the steering wheel. Mine is an '09. Australian model which only came in the following center console setup (attached): Appreciate any help. Cheers, MoulaZ |
I had the same problem. Dealer replaced the control panel behind it

Prefer to do it myself, maybe get the item code for that control panel to order, or maybe pull apart the console and see if I can repair the issue if it's simple enough. Do similar things at work so I have appropriate tools, just hoping for some tips from someone who may have attempted similar. Cheers, MoulaZ |
Hey Moulaz,
I sprayed Cramolin Red into my potentiometers, it fixed them right up. Still track perfectly the rotation of the knob. Just pull the knob off the pot and voila' the shaft and encoder potentiometers are revealed. Of course, a few months later one of the "clik" buttons on the Volume knob messed up, I had to take it all apart and put a jury rigged clik piece in there. Fortunately I'm in the electronics biz so I had the clik parts. |
I am having exactly the same problem, any update on how you fixed it?

Same issues with my volume knob. Very irritating and frustrating. Mine started about 2 years ago. I decided I would suffer with it before I took it back to the dealer (prefer to listen to the exhaust anyway).....but if there is a way to fix this......I am very interested.

Hey Buckeye,
Pull the knob off and spray an electronic cleaner/lubricant such as I describe below: I sprayed Cramolin Red into my potentiometers, it fixed them right up.
