Fujimura Diffuser and VHB tape
I got the damn thing on and its fitting pretty damn nicely except for one spot near the "foglight" along the top edge. The tape didn't seem to stick properly there and it bulges out ever so slightly and is driving me crazy. Problem is the tape seems to have made its connection pretty darn solid and it won't budge without a significant amount of force, and I learned a long time ago not to force things. Any suggestions on how to tighten that one spot? Will I have to remove the entire thing and start over? Go to a body shop? Any suggestions appreciated and tools that may help me accomplish the job. I thought maybe cut down a smaller piece of the VHB and slip it in the gap but Im afraid it will stick out of the top or look worse than when I started. Most people wouldn't even care but its driving me insane! I did the double up on the tape but still one part just seemed to fail to stick and its driving me nuts.

I would try to hit the spot briefly with a heat gun and see if would compress down first. Attempting to pull off VHB is not much fun.
Can you post a pic of the trouble spot? |

I know exactly what you are talking about as mine is doing the same thing. Initially was going to try and fix it, but as you mentioned about VHB tape, it's a total ***** to remove. I just let it be...

I will try to take a picture but it will be very hard to notice...gotta get my camera set just right. Does the VHB cure to a hard non sticky consistency or does it remain able to be molded and restuck if heated? Anyway thanks for the input. Its driving me so crazy only because im so damn discerning about this type of stuff that im looking into aftermarket bumpers

I would love to think I can be that careful, but this stuff cured like a rock...I have to buy a heat gun to see if it will budge at all once heated. The only spot is this one spot where the tape pulled off the bumper and the diffuser and bunched up, you can see it it you look inside...I also got the 5952 tape, and that stuff is absolute beast. Im glad I refrained from using that, though it did work amazingly well on my under the counter LED lights in my kitchen!

is the adhesive still there? might be good to just put pressure on it over night. you already know this, but the tape needs to be squashed together for full bonding strength. it activates when you put pressure on it.

Actually I thought that, I tried holding it down for a few minutes and it seems to have no adhesion at all. Think some painters tape overnight may have a different effect? Should I shove a half slice of fresh VHB in there ?:P Tell me to resist the urge!

you're going to need more force than painter's tape... see if you can clamp it.
if not, get some styrofoam block and a rod and use your garage wall or door or something solid to put pressure on the area. and yah, if there's no adhesive left, you'll want to squeeze a few small pieces in there to make it adhere. |

Where did you guys get your fujimura diffusers I wanna get a CF one. Was thinking of buying the Evo-R one but read fitment sucks so I've since scratched it off my list and want the recommended Fujimura one. |
