Thanks, I've seen something similar. It's basically just to pop those fasteners upward, putting the pressure at the right point.
My Roadster came with the illuminated kick plates, and this new Coupe I just got looks bare without them.

Default Kick plate Install.

Well, I got 'em installed , no big ee. The DIY info from several years ago was very helpful since the instructions that came with it leave a a lot ??? As far as the "nylon trim removal tool" , I made my own from a nylon spatula handle. Just sanded the forward edge down from both sides to a point. I had the illuminated kick plates on my previous Z, and this new one seemed naked without them.

Good idea on the spatula! I drove to 3 auto parts places looking for one. Glad the install went smooth too.
