The car still has 40k miles on it. The odo is right. The motor has 0 miles. Read your manual for break in. Off the top of my head it's 1200 miles not taking it over 4k rpm, no cruise control. Also, vary your rpm often on the freeway and get some engine braking in to let the rings see some vacuum. You may use a little oil at first. Use dino oil not synthetic for the first ~5k miles or so, then switch.

Get in the habit of checking your oil once a week at minimum, and at least every other oil change send a sample out to Blackstone Labs for an analysis.

You pretty much scored here. Your warranty got you a brand new motor for $50. You just rolled back the clock on the car big time.

Ok guys I just got my car back. Turned out to be a major issue and thank Goodness I purchased an extended warranty. Take a look at what would have made me $11,000 poorer according to nissan......

I don't even understand some of the things on this list ...I'm just glad I got that extended warranty and paid the $50 deductible.

Insane! looks like they took apart a ton of stuff to get to the issue, I can see that being in the thousands at Nissan, I may just extend my warranty once I reach 36k. I wonder if the Powertrain would have covered that, I assume no since you paid a deductible

Wow -- well that would have been last on my list as an arm-chair car diagnostician based on the symptoms you mentioned.

Glad this was resolved and covered!

What Im wondering is if this is a common problem with the 09's. I mean I didn't beat the **** out of this car, I drove it most of the time like an old man going to Sunday church and then occasionally on the weekend like a gearhead (traffic permitting). I mean did I purchase a lemon?
What I'm a bit concerned about ... Is moving forward with this car. Is this car worth holding on to as much as I love it?

There's plenty of 09s that had oil consumption issues that were fixed under warranty. Lots of results here if you search. It's not a big deal now that you've got a new motor. Stop worrying about it.

I don't see any reason to get rid of it unless you start having problems again. I would consider myself lucky to get a new engine in a 2009 model Z

Chuck .. So mainly only the 09's had oil consumption issues and not any of the later models?

No, that's just being a responsible car owner. Check the oil, fluids and tire pressures weekly. Make it a habit.
