The car still has 40k miles on it. The odo is right. The motor has 0 miles. Read your manual for break in. Off the top of my head it's 1200 miles not taking it over 4k rpm, no cruise control. Also, vary your rpm often on the freeway and get some engine braking in to let the rings see some vacuum. You may use a little oil at first. Use dino oil not synthetic for the first ~5k miles or so, then switch.
Get in the habit of checking your oil once a week at minimum, and at least every other oil change send a sample out to Blackstone Labs for an analysis. You pretty much scored here. Your warranty got you a brand new motor for $50. You just rolled back the clock on the car big time. |
Will do thanks again

Wow -- well that would have been last on my list as an arm-chair car diagnostician based on the symptoms you mentioned.
Glad this was resolved and covered! |
The diagnostic didn't pick up the code as per Nissan

What Im wondering is if this is a common problem with the 09's. I mean I didn't beat the **** out of this car, I drove it most of the time like an old man going to Sunday church and then occasionally on the weekend like a gearhead (traffic permitting). I mean did I purchase a lemon?
What I'm a bit concerned about ... Is moving forward with this car. Is this car worth holding on to as much as I love it? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Chuck .. So mainly only the 09's had oil consumption issues and not any of the later models?

So I guess that explains your weekly routine oil checks ...
