Evo-r Front lip install?
 

i've searched and searched but everyone's replies is just "its simple" "easy"

I ordered my lip and it should be here today or tomorrow. so I'm wondering if this is REALLY THAT EASY to install? im not good with doing car work,

to the ones that have the EVO-R front lip 3 piece, does the screws or whatever come with it? am i going to be drilling holes in my bumper? or like using tape or something? if i am not able to do it, ill just send it to a bodyshop and blow like $200-300... :shakes head:

i dont know what's so funny. I actually just got the lip delivered right now. Today's my day off so im wondering if i can install this RIGHT NOW MYSELF :mad:

Depends on your mechanical aptitude.

ive not done that lip, but ive done many lip installs.

first thing is you have to lift the car off the ground to get your head under there to do the work. i use ramps. can you get past this step? if not, chances are you want to have your buddy or shop do it for you.

i use nuts, washer, bolts and VHB tape to do lips and splitters. and yes, i usually do need to drill hole(s) in the bumper.

yah, you dont want to be using your scissors jack to lift your car do do the work. those things can sometimes collapse or roll over and you can get your head crushed under there...

First things first, check that **** for weak spots. JARblue did my install and while he was handling one part, a piece of the plastic chipped off. We used bondo to repair it and he then painted it. Yes, you will have to drill into your bumper, screws should be included as well as the adhesive tape.

A couple of screw holes (use a nice step bit), a good bit of tape, and some patience lining everything up is really all you need. It may not fit absolutely perfect, but the screws and tape should help everything come together nicely. Really, there's nothing mechanical about it.

If you can't get your car up on ramps or some jack stands, don't bother trying to DIY it. And you should never work under the car if the only thing holding up your vehicle is a jack. The OEM scissor jack and other floor jacks are not designed to hold the vehicle while you work on it - that's what jack stands are for. Like Mr. Kenchan mentions, the OEM jack can fail or tip over way too easily. Floor jacks aren't really prone to tipping, but they certainly aren't designed to hold the load for long periods of time (like while you work on the car). Eventually it will fail - please make sure you are not under the car if this happens.

I have the 3-piece kit and it's relatively straightforward to install. The tricky part is getting it lined up properly. You can remove the entire bumper relatively easily with a socket set and install the kit that way. The kit comes with some self tapping screws and double sided tape. Just make sure everything is clean and lined up before removing the tape backing. The only holes you'll need to drill, you won't really see should you decide to remove the lip kit. There are a few on the underside and a few holding up the side pieces that screw to the wheel well lining sides. You'll see where to put them in when you get the kit. The holes should be predrilled on the kit.
