Im not sure if this is normal (headlights)

So is it normal for the headlights to stay on all the time? Even when I have the switch to the off position they don't turn off. Whenever the car

Even when I have the switch to the off position they don't turn off. Whenever the car is on the headlights are on. Are you able to turn then off or is this just how it is? Im worried about bulb life if they are on all the time even when I dont need them on.
