I'm no auto wiring expert, but I do know it's customary for cabin electronics/dash lights to dim when headlights or parking lights are on, so it sounds as if yours

I'm no auto wiring expert, but I do know it's customary for cabin electronics/dash lights to dim when headlights or parking lights are on, so it sounds as if yours are behaving reverse of normal. I'd reconnect everything normally until you find out what's wrong, then fix it.
