Honestly, I don't mind it. I think I'd prefer an analog gauge more, but it's no where NEAR a deal breaker for me. I think I can build a replacement for it anyway. I'm pretty sure I can build something with all the dummy lights below 2 digital screens (the stock information center below a VF display that has the temp and fuel. No led gauges at all. Shouldn't be too hard. It would require a little metal work, a PLC controller and a VF display. Maybe a total of $250 in parts.
EDIT:: By the way, it sounds like the 80's just hit Japan! ![]()

Yeah, good point. It seems to be the biggest gripe so far. Getting the windows tinted helps too, I have no problems seeing it, even in daylight.

Anyone get a confirmation that Nissan will be redesigning the fuel gauge?
Its not a deal breaker for me, but if the 2010 370Z comes out with an analog one I'd rather wait for that. |

I test drove a 370 as soon as they hit the ground. It was cloudy and snowing that day, but it was pretty bright, and I had a fcuk of a time seeing the fuel/temp gauge. So, I'm thinking tint+polarized sunglasses= no problem.

No problems reading at all with 35% tinting. I like the guage.
Now the digital clock guage, I wish it was replace with something analog since I have nav.

The fuel gauge does more than just display fuel (water temp, warnings/alerts, range, fuel mileage, outside temp). It was probably a good compromise for the extra functionality. I like it OK. I think having the water temp light up as a bar rather than single LED would have been more cool.

The precision of the led's (or whatever they are) seem to be more accurate than a dial guage would be. It seems that people dont like the trip computer the actual fuel guage is so toned down.

I also like it, its different and doesnt mess with the to big gadge cluster they got going on, if u are worried about running out of gas or not seeing it , just put the display on the miles till you run out of gas option

My only gripe with the fuel guage is the lack of a "red zone" which most cars typically have as their "reserve" fuel. Thus far, I've been assuming that E for this car is in fact empty, and not a "one gallon to get your *** to a gas station" warning.
