Fly1 Motorsports Amuse Front Bumper Aluminum Skid Plate

I know folks don't visit the Vendor Section as often as the Tech Section, so thought I'd spread the word here that we just fabricated some aluminum skid plates for the Amuse front bumper

Link to sale thread HERE

Thanks for looking - hope some of you guys will appreciate the protection this piece will provide! :tip hat:

KaienZ34 03-10-2014 08:17 PM

I put a link in the amuse thread, these should go fast.

OMGWTFBBQ 03-10-2014 09:50 PM

Is it possible for you to fabricate one for other front bumpers as well? For example, Fujimura, Stillen, Zele, etc.?

I am working on a way to do this...as I know there is a demand. Will reply to your PM

I asked also on the Facebook post. Would be interested in the varis v2 front lip if there are others also.

Is the underside of the amuse completely flat (over the points where the skid pate would sit)? It looks from this picture like it is a bit of a raised in the middle section.

Wow! AWESOME! !!

For the most part, yes, it is flat where the skid plate is. Keep in mind the aluminum has some flex in it, so when you attach, it will "hug" the slight variations of the bumper.

DarkJak 03-10-2014 11:41 PM

This is great! I'd get if I had the amuse. Every time I think about getting it, I shudder at how it'd get demolished on every ramp here in the city.

Riptide67 03-10-2014 11:42 PM

About time someone produced these!!!!!

axmea? 03-11-2014 12:23 AM

Congratulations! Sell, sell, sell.

Mr&Mrs 03-11-2014 07:49 AM

Great piece these should go quickly.

Fly1 Motorsports 03-11-2014 11:33 AM

I dug up some pics of when I had the prototype on my Z. Front edge was wrapped in matte black vinyl to make it unnoticeable:

http://i1019.photobucket.com/albums/...ps500d2420.jpg

And this will give you an idea of what it will look like mounted beyond the front edge (only difference is ours will not be wider than the front bumper - rather taper to be flush w/ the sides...which is better for angling into driveways, etc.).

Thanks Sim...we can ship to Guam, no problem

FYI...for those that are interested more in the "look" than "function" - we will have these splitters available in full CF in about 2 weeks :tiphat:

How much protection does it really offer? I'm not being an *** I just want your guys opinions. I don't care about the asthetics more about if in hit a speed bump or a drive that's to low...etc

From first hand experience, I can definitely say it adds significant protection. Of course, it depends on how low you are, and how careful you drive. Slamming into a speed bump or pothole will do damage with or without a skid plate. But when I was severely lowered and scraping on driveways etc. (to the point where I had a hole underneath the bumper where I was frequently rubbing)...this alleviated that concern. Like you, I cared less about the look, more about the function...and this solved my problem.

For those that ARE just seeking a cosmetic upgrade, here is the first Carbon Fiber splitter for the Amuse bumper:

Why won't they produce anymore? This is something I would definitely buy once I go amuse but it won't be soon :shakes head:

Voice59 04-23-2014 10:22 AM

how much does it cost?

OMGWTFBBQ 04-23-2014 01:49 PM

Like I said, buy the skid plate now then worry about getting the kit later.

Our first run was 20 units, plasma cut aluminum. For us to keep the per unit cost affordable, we had to make that many units at one time. Seeing that we still have 4 left after making them a few months ago (2 aluminum and 2 powder coated) - I just don't know if running another batch of 20 would make sense. It's hard for a small operation to sit on inventory.

No, you would have to premount with 3m after you align it to your liking and then drill.

Beautiful indeed!

I especially like the overhanging skid pad as featuring on that matte blue Vossen Z.

How much would shipping to U.K. be?

are these still available or was this a one batch and done thing?
