I'm hoping he's deep into the process by now.

Sorry guys, project is on hold. I'm not closing the thread because I'm hoping to take another stab at it later this year but no promises.

Haha I'd love to help out where I can but I definitely don't have all the skills necessary for a project like this on my own!

The combination that I would love to see is the LED brakes lights be used for both the turn signals and brakes, but but light up sequentially from bottom to top, or the opposite, for both turn signals and brakes. IE, if you are turning left, the left brake light would cycle from bottom to top repeatedly to indicate the turn and the right would light from bottom to top once then and be solid. If just stopping, both lights would cycle and then stop.

It might be possible to use an Arduino to run the light programming, but that is currently beyond my skill set and I have no idea what the tail light wiring is like.

My first thought on how to do this would be to put an arduino on the wires going to the lights and when it senses then being turned on on an input, it flashes the outputs in order. There a couple problems I see with this though:

1. There is no way to distinguish the light turning on from a brake vs a blinker. I think wires would have to be run from the brake pedal up front but I'm not sure.

2. When the headlights are on the tail lights are dim. This might be a challenge to integrate with the arduino.

3. Brake lights coming on sequentially seems like a bit of a safety issue if you slam on your brakes

I actually attempted to mod a set back in 2009 since I had been baking headlights on Subi's and 350z since 2003... With alot of confidence and a hot knife I got one of them apart... Totally warped the lens. The other one I ended up using a cuttoff wheel to cut the back out so I could see the inner workings, once I got it apart I realized that there really isnt althing looks wise you can do that is gunna look better than the stock ones. Yes, you could mess with LED triggers, and different lighting patterns, but its really not worth the time or money.

I will add that the one mod I did do to them is to switch out the backup lights to a super bright LED, then bought a can of red NITE shades tinting paint and painted the clear backup strip of the outer lens.... Look in my profile pics is your interested.
