WD-40 (and other oil-based products) may not be compatible with the foam or covering. I'd try some graphite or silicone spray.

I know I'm late to the thread, but I was having a very annoying squeak coming from under the left front of the driver's seat. I've been trying to track it down for weeks, and finally decided to remove the seat (well, I removed the 4 bolts, but left the seat in place). I have leather seats in my Z, and turns out what was causing the squeak was leather on leather rubbing. This was happening when driving on unsmooth roads and/or I put the weight of my left leg completely on the front of the seat. I happened to have some mink oil paste on hand, so I used my finger to rub it in between the underside of the seat between where the leather was folded on itself and on the hidden leather surface anywhere it came into contact with metal or plastic, and finally the sqeak is gone!
