So I only pay $2500 to pick up from their location in AZ?

scottIN 01-23-2014 12:05 PM

I'd be ticked about that handling fee! :)

As if people needed other reasons to stay far, far away from Vivid Racing and Agency Power. :rofl2:

enkei2k 01-23-2014 12:19 PM

Well..for starters they're shipping it to you internationally in Canada. That alone is what makes it expensive.

Ex: Shipping to me on the east coast for the complete set from their website:

Sub-Total: $3,430.60 (Non Standard Shipping via Economy) with Basic Shipping Items: $3,245.04 Total: $6,680.64

Which isn't too bad

cooltoy 01-23-2014 12:22 PM

So how can Shine Auto can ship the same for $250?

enkei2k 01-23-2014 12:37 PM

guess they need to make it look cheap at first, but yet get profit on the shipping. awesome!

What's wrong with them? Sorry for the ignorance.. Other than the shipping price above they seem pretty legit?

That's what I think. They think we are stupid.

Chuck33079 01-23-2014 12:45 PM

They've got a long, long history of ******* customers over. They were the only vendor ever banned from NASIOC for a long time. If you want hours of entertaining reading, google "vivid racing nasioc".

Actually, I'll give you the link to the main thread- Vividracing.com (unregistered vendor: please read the whole thread) - Page 3 - NASIOC

That be worth a trip to AZ. I can stay there for a week for less.

cooltoy 01-23-2014 12:54 PM

This is more legit, notice price includes shipping.

It would be cheaper to buy an old truck and drive down there to pick it up. That is absurd. You can ship a car from Japan for almost that...

... DUH.

cooltoy 01-23-2014 01:43 PM

Seems simple. And you get to visit Hawaii.

Meulen 01-23-2014 01:45 PM

for $4500, I'll pick it up at their shop and bring it to you! :)

dudesky 01-23-2014 01:54 PM

Their handling/shipping fee is very expensive because they wear 24k gold gloves preping the bumper, try not to pop a single bubble on the bubble wraps, use fresh up-to-date New York Times paper for cushions, and use diamonds to cut box tapes with heart and care. Then they use Optimus Prime to deliver to your place. If you are from outer states, then they use Megatron. Hope this helped. :)

Meh, posts from 2002, 2008...2009.

I've bought some Carbon Fiber from them 2 years ago. Came on time, great price, all in once piece. Granted the guy I dealt with "Scott" is no longer there.

Go ahead and roll the dice. It's still Dan Mermelstein's company, and he's got a very established pattern of behavior. Caveat Emptor and all.

It's like John Hennessy. Sure, you may have found Jesus and supposedly cleaned up your act, but you've got a long history as a scumbag and you'll never see a dime of my money.

G37sHKS 01-23-2014 03:41 PM

vividracing is legit to me. I invest over 80 grand US dollars and never got a single scam..

jlo370z 01-23-2014 03:49 PM

ive had nothing but great experience with vivid racing and sean in particular. and there prices where better then quoted prices from other vendors on this site fwiw

Hover truck.

Jk. I was referring to picking it up from Vivid Racing. Drive from Calgary (OP's location) to Vivid Racing. That is if they have it at their location and not drop shipping it from Japan.

Made in CA.

SOUTHZZ 01-23-2014 04:22 PM

I've ordered from Vivid before.I believe the shipping is air.Only other option is by
boat.It takes forever.I purchased a set of Varis canards. For sure, they were not as much
as the Amuse kit. However, the shipping in percentage of the total price was pretty high.
Shipped by air, direct to me instead of th Varis to reship to me.Wanted it fast.
A body kit is some big stuff.I really like Shine products. They are made to order in CA.
The molds are there. From my experience, takes about 2 weeks to get built.Another week
for shipping time.THe fit&quality is great.I try whenever possible to buy domestically.
Some good stuff made here in the U.S. For carbon fiber,ZCF is the best I've seen, shipping is free!

OldFart 01-23-2014 04:30 PM

I called them on a Fujimura carbon fiber diffuser, did the online chat and was quoted $700 shipped to US. Said about buying same thing from JapanParts.com was around $460, why such a difference. Was told JapanParts is iffy, holiday in Japan blah, blah, blah, would get it sooner if I bought thru Vivid and was quoted close to 2 months...

Bought the part from JapanParts, ordering was easy, had it in a little over 3 weeks... If this is their norm, they won't ever get my business...

cooltoy 01-23-2014 04:37 PM

Sheesh, did I open up a can.

It's a good can... I'm sure most of the people here are like me and want to know if others have had issues with a vendor before they fork over their hard earned cash. I can also understand when a company gets a bad rap because of a few transactions over the years even though thousands have gone through during the same time frame without a hitch.

I'll throw in my $0.02 as well... I've done business with VR exactly one time, and it was to buy a set of Axis wheels. I knew what I wanted, I called, I ordered, and I had them on my car within a week. My experience was totally fine, I was just curious why others seemed to have complaints about them.

equalme 01-23-2014 06:46 PM

I've chatted with VR a few times on price quotes and what not. Sean (VR rep) seems like a great guy but their prices cannot compare to other places.

Stillen lip $300 from VR and $225 from Z1.
Fujimura cf diffuser $6xx VR and $4xx Japanparts.

kenchan 01-23-2014 06:53 PM

yah, try japanparts.com they even export cars, etc. im sure they can give you a good rate on freight.

these days i dont f- around and just find wat i want at the actual co.jp sites, send a link to japanparts.com and depending on wat it is, i have it in my hands within 10days.

vividracing 01-23-2014 06:56 PM

Welp, let's get into this to make it clear and transparent to anyone and everyone involved.

1.@Jlo, you're awesome, thanks for the support.

2. We have a website, we have hiccups, I had a customer from Canada lose his mind earlier today because his handheld tuner popped up in his cart with $720 in shipping, and that was coming from LA, he called in, it was corrected, his parts are on the way. Mistakes happen.

3. A 5 minute conversation could have resolved this in no time to let the OP know of the issue. Yes, the kit is shown at a lower than normal price, this is sourced directly from a company we use in Japan. With shipping to VR in the US and then kicked back to you in Canada it would be expensive, with AIR shipping probably close to $3000. *(Ive been charged $1500 by air to get a Varis hood, it happens)

4. This is not a bait and switch, we are not looking to take your money and run, this would have never been processed with these figures. (*In the same respect we would not ship the kit to you for $6 if the website quoted it by mistake. Fair is Fair)

5. If you've ordered with me, or Scott (*great friend of mine), or Phil, you were taken care of and happy. We dont screw people over, there's no long term business plan that includes "take them for all they got and then change your business name".

6.@Old Fart, you spoke with me on chat. We had a pleasant conversation and I offered the Fujimura parts for the same price offered to countless members that were happy with the price. You asked my opinion and I told you I have had no experience with RHDJapan.com and I could not tell you if there would be any additional fees or issues. I recommended you go with them based on the price, or as you put it I said "holiday in Japan blah, blah, blah"
7. I like this forum, not because I am making Kanye money on sales being here, but I have the car and get to talk to some nice folks and post the cool parts I find and would add to my car. Honestly, it's more fun in here than on the Porsche forum I represent. If you have questions, ask. If something looks off, it is. No need for a witch hunt, I'll tell you straight.

cooltoy 01-23-2014 07:57 PM

Ya but look at all the attention I brought to Vivid Racing. You know what they say in Hollywood....

Anyways. So how much is the kit and shipping?
