I have plasti-dip fangs :tiphat:

Only thing I hate about plasti-dip is that it is like a damn chalk board.

The paint is a dead on match.

I've used the KAD on my car and have painted parts on my son's Tacoma with perfect results.

Well it ended up very close in color to the KAV, almost the same tone of grey minus the purple hue. Picture was taken in a overcast so it probably looks more greyish in the sunlight. Hopefully I can get more pictures...I was rushing when I took these.

kenchan 01-12-2014 10:02 PM

No sanding needed. Just make sure it is very clean; I washed it down with dawn dish soap and wiped it down with rubbing alcohol. I ripped off the ends of the erasers on a pencil to prop the handle open. I did about 4 layers of paint with 10 minutes between each layer. Then I let it dry overnight and topped it off with a few layers of the 2k clear coat.

Indeed! Keep in mind when they say 'metallic' it is very metallic lol. I'll try to get more pictures in the sunlight hopefully tomorrow, but I think it has more metallic flakes than the paint on the car.

equalme 01-29-2014 11:51 PM

Ugh. So I bought KAV paint from Touch Up Paint and Accessories | AutomotiveTouchup in aerosol cans...the color ALMOST matches...but it seems they left out the pearls or metallic flakes that give the KAV the purple hue (or they just didn't mix enough of it)...

kenchan 01-29-2014 11:52 PM

paint pearl overcoat? :)

I recently had mine painted KAV and installed them a couple weeks back with matching headlights and side markers. Here's a quick iPhone pic from a few weeks back when rinsed the car off.

so clean! i think its time to get rid of my silver handles

equalme 01-30-2014 01:11 AM

Here is the KAV painted on their test card and then clear coated (Touch Up Paint and Accessories | AutomotiveTouchup).
Sadly I didn't do that before spraying my front bumper...I have already clear coated it too. Guess I'll wait until I get enough rock chips to re-spray it again.

Now I have s-tune skirts and shine spats prepped and waiting to be painted. Ugh.
