Default Bad situation and want to not get screwed again

So a few weeks ago my drivers headlight went out. I paid a lot to get the bulb and ballast replaced. After getting the work done and the light back on I was told there was a small crack in my headlight assembly. The dealer (harte nissan) told me this after they replaced the bulb and ballast. The light is on now but the crack is sill there. Whenever there is precipitation I have to tape my headlight now.

What am I supposed to do? I looked online and I can find a headlght assembly from go-parts.com for 427. Is this the real thing? I paid way too much for the bulb and the ballast then. I don't want to get screwed again. Thanks

If its on the lense itself why not buy a vinyl wrap and cover it in clear or tint

They said it wasn't visible from the top. It is a hairline crack on the side or below

I used blue painters tape to protect it (put it in the gap between the hood and light)

Would a vinyl wrap protect from rain/snow? Where could I get this done?

So is it on the lens or not? If its not on the lens I would put clear/black Silicone on it.

Wait, who messed up and why don't they just fix it themselves?

I hit a parking garage wall at like 3 mph in May (don't ask). I didn't know a crack was there until my light went out. Idk if that even caused the crack. The dealer didn't see it for some reason until after the work was done on the light.

I am liking the silicone idea but I would probably screw something up lol

Would tinting the headlights provide protection? I called a tint shop and they said it was 5 mils think which seems to be thicker than the painters tape I have been using

I like the smoked look anyway

Lol thought a mil was a millimeter nvm

If its on the lense yes the tint will prevent water to get in
If itson a corner or underneath you are better off with silicone

This will work. I would then keep an eye on the classified section for one to replace the one that is cracked.
