I have? Dang I'm sorry, I'll check my posts closer. Didn't mean to be a jerk.

Hide it under the cupholder
|
If it's that important why not extend the wire into the glove box where there is already a lock?
|
Glove box is way too small. This is the size of box that I have:

Don't really get that because if you have things in there secured it means you're locking/unlocking it which is the point. Everyone has pretty much provided all the possible remedies for you other than just not putting the iPod in the car.
Based on all your comments it seems like you're more concerned with securing a firearm rather than an iPod but for some reason aren't telling us that. |
I don't leave firearms unattended. I'm going to get some work done at a stereo installer over the weekend, I'll see what they say about a possible lock. Of course it'll be after- market install, I just hope it looks good. Thanks for your help.

Heck, there's a lot on this forum that's not necessity, at least this can be useful. |

Maybe you can elaborate on what you understand because I'm still not understanding. |
I have the navigation package. Has ipod hookup in the center console ( i guess some dont know that). A lock would be nice. U know... for valet, mechanic, car wash guy, etc. I mentioned this before. Not talking about people breaking into your car through the window or whatever. Just nosey peeps who has access to your car. Also, rewiring things to your glove compartment is probably more difficult than a 3rd party lock (if it existed). Also doesn't mean we'll be locking all the time and will be a hassle. Heck, i never lock my glove compartment. It's just something nice to have especially if it can only hold my ipod and phone charger. Won't see much opening anyways.

Ah.. I see your quandry. Why not just pocket your valuables in that case, or relocate them to the glove box for the times that you're mentioning?

Here's an option that shows going through the glove box. I know you have a nav and aren't installing this particular product but it gives you the idea about rearranging the iPod connection to the glove box. This diy looks a lot more complicated that it is and you prob wouldn't be pulling out the hole head unit anyway. It's just an option that currently exists as there are no aftermarket locks that I know of. If you're keeping your 160GB iPod in there all the time it's a really good option and honestly probably easier to do than trying to create some type of locking mechanism for the center. FWIW if you're more concerned about lookie loos, adding a lock to the center console might ignite their curiosity more so just because not many center consoles have them to begin with. |
