Thanks for the input, I have never driven another Z with a weighted shift knob, so I couldn't agree or disagree what feels better for our cars. I have driven an FC rx7 that came stock with a weighted knob. I switched out for an lighter aftermarket knob and it just did not feel right.

yah you'll want to use the stock or heavier in most cases.

if the knob is shorter (or you're using a short shifter) usually a heavier knob will make it feel better going into the gates.

Weighted knob is better in my opinion. I switched back from weighted (password jdm) knob to stock.

I love the stock knob, but sometimes it rattles at high rpm.

that could be the pilot bushing inside that's rattling.

i use the Z's stock knob on my G, actually.

ill add mine to the thread:

stainless steel sphere, blue bronze finish, laser 6MT etching, 2 grooves on the bottom of knob (gives an awesome feel IMO), and matching metal bronze collar. total weight is around 520 grams

and to add to the discussion, weight totally matters on the Z. our clutch is kinda knotchy and when i used my previous knob...that was 1/3 the weight, shifts would sometimes miss and not fall into place completely, and a variety of little things if you werent careful.

looks great! the notches are the circular engraving around the knob correct? you were able to just get two notches on the bottom? i'm liking the bronze burnt finish. I would probably get the red imprint of the gears to match the 40th interior.

Also, I get an image in my head of some of you guys watching carefully as you use 1 finger to push the shifter into gear . I don't think there's any argument that weight can matter. However to me, on the Z, I just personally don't see much difference....I guess I must push it into gear with extra gusto or something.

Maybe you just have bigger guns than these guys? I ordered a Lathe works knob yesterday, copolymer, red shift pattern wrapped in leather with the red stitching to match my 40th interior, can't wait.
