I don't feel like it's a full second delay, but the Z is definitely a little slower to start up than some of the other push button cars I've driven,

I don't feel like it's a full second delay, but the Z is definitely a little slower to start up than some of the other push button cars I've driven, including our Focus ST.

I think the "thut thut " is suppose to be the sound of the engine cranking. I don't think everyone is on the same page. Some are talking about how long the starter cranks before the engine fires up, and others are talking about how long it takes the starter to start cranking after pressing the start button.

Serious first world problems going on in this thread. Seriously though...it does start slower than some cars but is much faster if you just hold down the clutch and quickly press once and let go.

To be honest I think it's more of a Nissan thing. My mother's Altima had the Intelli-key, and her's took a sec before it would start cranking as well. I've had a few Chrysler rental cars with the push button that would start cranking as soon as you hit the button.
It does seem to start faster if you just push the button and release instead of holding it down. My issue is finding the one spot on the clutch that actually trips the sensor for starting. I'll get in, hold the clutch down, and hit the button, only to realize that it isn't down far enough.
