Default Tow Strap

I did a quick search and didn't find anything. So here it is. I need to do a little fabricating to get my Takata tow strap to work with the OEM tow hook mount. That said does anyone know what size bolt (thread count/ depth) I need to use the OEM mount?

can you pull out your factory tow hook from the trunk and take it to the store (ace hardware) to get that measured or matched up to a nut?

This is what I was thinking, but I'm not positive Ace will have what you you need. I used to have a specialty store called Threaded Products that made specialty bolts/nuts and had a ton of crazy stuff in stock ready to go. You mkght want to do a search for some kind of store like that by you.

yep, I've seen the Ace's that have literally everything. I used to live near one. Now there's not one anywhere close to me and the one I'm thinking of is closed down. I know my local ace might have a bolt that big, but it would never have a hardened bolt that I'd want for a job like this. Probably just a stainless steel one.

thanks guys. I think im just gonna have someone cut the OEM hook to the threads and weld the mount from the Takata strap to it. Im sure this wouldnt hold up well if it needed to be used, but Im just going to buy another OEM hook. For me the strap is more for show anyway.

if it's just for show, just use some 3M mounting tape...

oh, and dont forget the TOW => sticker.

someone should make TIRE => stickers and put them on all 4 corners.
