Stillen splitter is not a shovel

I always figured it would be a curb that got me.
Go out to New Castle Motorsports Park to watch the RoboPong 200 (incidentally, won by Mark Dismore Jr. & Josef Newgarden). Decide to pull in and park along the fence. Well, the way it had been mowed it looked pretty flat - it wasn't. Tires went into a dip, splitter goes into the ground and pretty much explodes (it was cold so it was probably more brittle than normal). Now, I love to bash Stillen for the sagging, but the 1" of sag on mine wouldn't have made a difference - 100% my fault. I do have nice little canards now though.

Because I thru-bolted it, I've got to pull the bumper tonight to get the rest of it off. Not sure what I'll put on there now but I need something since I've got sideblades. What is similar to the Stillen (noticeable / juts out, but doesn't drop down & not terribly expensive)?

Oh well. One of those things...

sucks man :(

That sucks!

You can try INGS+1 or knock offs from NEXTMOD here in Canada. I'm planning to get those, I'm all for quality parts, but I know that certain part will get damaged.

I think it's in the ball park of $270 ish CDN. TaylorRyan on the forum here has them and says it fits nicely.

We don't have NEXT mode here in Canada.

What about the Evo R? Is that the one that covers the fangs, too? I'm not able to tell from the photos - all seem to be on black cars w/ a black bumper & I'm obviously going for the flat black accessories on red.

Honestly, I really don't want to spend $300+ on a new lip.

cooltoy 10-28-2013 10:16 AM

+2 on Ings+1 or copy.

LostSol 10-28-2013 10:17 AM

ouch, always one of my worries with my lip

Could always go back with the Stillen splitter. I have had mine on for a few months now and I did a little prep work to prevent the inevitable sagging issue. Used a strong adhesive to mount a piece of aluminum L bar to the middle portion of the splitter.

Take it all off and just have it low on oem.

I had an aluminum bar under mine for a while, too. Adhesive (2-part epoxy) came lose & soon as I took it off, it sagged. Then I bought the LongAcre adjustable splitter mounts, but hadn't put them on yet. Probably a good thing I hadn't done them yet honestly.

I dunno. I like the look of the Stillen, just ticks me off that they KNOW there is an issue, blame the install, and don't fix it. Have a hard time supporting (get it...supporting) a company that does that.

I love the INGS +1 lip, but mine's pretty busted now, too! Haha.

I know what you mean I held out long as I could and even considered just getting one of the more pricier front lips. But as you see what happened here I would be more upset if I busted a Top Secret or Mine's lip.

I used the PL Premium Polyurethane adhesive and I don't think I will be able to remove the aluminum bar without some cutting.
