Actually, since these stripes seem to be misunderstood, I will clarify. They are called LeMans stripes. More specifically, LeMans Hash stripes. These were used primarily in, you guessed it, the Le Mans race (24 hour or otherwise). The long vertical stripes were created first to allow spectators to distinguish between cars more easily. However, as time progressed and more cars started using vertical stripes, more creative stripes were created to allow spectators another degree of identification. Thus was born the Hash Stripe. Rocker panel and other stripes seen now currently came from this trend. Although now it is more about standing out for advertisers rather than quick identification.

they are not attributed to hemi or otherwise, merely adopted as such due to the racing legacy behind them. However the stripes are universal. hemi stripes = misnomer.

As every idea has a begining they are typically (over time) changed or migrated to other uses and expressions. This idea might have started with LeMans but i would challenge you to find someone on the street that would know where the original idea came from. I would bet 3-1 that most would either have no idea or would associate the stripes with Dodge/hemi.

Haha I'm not disputing the current use, but just because everyone calls them hemi stripes doesn't mean its true. That just makes the
majority of those who call it that ignorant ;) I jest of course. THE MORE YOU KNOW. That's what I was clearing up. Hahaha I like the O idea though

Sorry it's taken so long to reply, here are the results. After living with the side bits done now for some time I've decided they def do not work so are about to be removed. Very happy with the front, rear and mirrors though:http://i1234.photobucket.com/albums/...ps5537defe.jpg

yah, dont worry. i tried dinoc on the roof once, and removed it immediately after. :icon17: sometimes you just gotta try to know what it really looks like i guess.

im not a fan of the new nismo with its black side pieces on the bottom. makes the car looks lifted, and kinda 90's look. :shakes head: if i ever crash my 370Z and get a nismo, i first time i would do is get those pieces replaced front/sides/rear with the pre-painted ones. :D hahaha.

My thoughts exactly.

I had an 1990 Eagle Tallon TSi with in black with silver around the bottom. One of the first things I did was paint it all black.

(not mine)
