do you have to hold the lever while its draining or does it open and you can let go and it still pours out?

Mine is the model with the nipple for attaching a hose as well. It drains very slowly though.... Otherwise a very neat and handy device!
above: the lever swings and locks in the open or closed position so it stays in the position you choose...

It's slower, but it still only takes 2-3 beers to be done.

2 - 3 beers is barely the time it takes for the hood to open on the automatic dampeners....

Oh, for sure. It's an easy 3 beers before I've got the undertray off and I'm using an air ratchet. I'm just talking the time spent waiting for the oil to drain.
