how about this question....

most comfortable racing seat???? def for DDing.

sorry if im thread jacking OP.

"most comfortable" and "racing seat" is something that rarely goes together. It will definitely depend on body type and use. We've put alot of miles on the Status Ring and Status Spa respectively, and of course the reclinable wins on long trips every time. The best solution is to review a manufacturers measuring specs to find the best solution for you.

the picture posted above with the 40th interior and Red Status racing seat is my car.

Status bucket seat is the most comfortable racing seat i have sat in. Ive sat in Bride reclinable, Bride Bucket for longer drives, it was painful because of thin padding. Status has thick padding and comfortable for daily driving.

I had Corbeau TRS race seats - they are very light and have submarine slots for the 5 point harnesses. Comfortable for street use too. They also sell seat tracks.

Very nice. You said the red one is yours correct?

Which version is that? Ring? Also, do the sides rub when you close the door? What type of mounting brackets? I am a larger guy (6'2 and 215lbs) and am still hesitant about getting a proper bucket seat for two reasons. One, clearance (my head hits when I wear a helmet as it is), and second is comfort since it will also be a DD. How does the fabric feel in general? Position and whatnot as well...much appreciated!

I've gone thru the color matching process for the 40th recently and we were able to find a close match but not exact. However, there was a solution with Status to send in the door panels as well and they would be wrapped in a matching material for an additional cost. The smallest Ring seat is the only FIA Status seat right now and there's another in the works. Keep in mind FIA is now requiring 5point harnesses as well.

Wow...I bet having them do the doors would be extra-stupid expensive. I may have to think about this whole idea.

Was considering that too...looks so sexy.

Hey just bc you have a funny Archer DP doesn't mean you get to steal all the threads...[i expect you to respond with: "Cant't, or won't?" lol]

Would it be cheaper to have a set of door panels done locally to match the seats? Then you can sell the 40th seats/door panels as a set for a pretty good chunk of change, I would assume.

Another good idea. My biggest issue is that I like the 40th red. It is just different enough to not be the typical racing red. Second issue is that I really would like to keep things as close to 40th as I can.

What I need to do is fine out who does Nissan's fabric and then slip them some sake!

Chuck33079 10-15-2013 01:50 PM

I think the only way to make it work would be to have it done locally. That way you can OK the color match before any work gets done.

vividracing 10-15-2013 01:55 PM

Status can either supply additional material to have your door cards done locally to match your seat or can do them at the same time the seat is made, if you're looking at an Icon seat with custom stitch color and pattern I'd recommend Status doing it for you, if its a standard recover any local shop should be able to handle it

vividracing 10-15-2013 01:58 PM

Even with a non-40th car I think the door cards complete the facelift alot better.

You know what I just noticed...neither Status seat has a seat harness slit. Can you not do 5 point with those? Odd.
