Wowza lots of info, thanks all. Its not that I refuse to use 3m double back tape, its that that is what I used and it was centered when installed but the following day sun (I assume) it shifted down almost to the point it had shifted over the outside bottom edge of the recess.

I didn't want to mention it because the emblem I installed is a forum regular supplier but if it helps me get this fixed maybe the info will help. I got a pair, front and back, of the EVO R chrome Z emblem with black carbon fiber backing.

The reason I assumed OEM adhesive was different was because the original nissan emblem was held in place by a tar like substance the had rounded edges similar to when a tube of adhesive gets spread out then pressed between two solid flat surfaces.

also if need be I can get some pictures put together so everyone can see what I'm dealing with. Let me know, and again thanks for all the advice and help.

•edit- picture of issue...

Sorry if picture isn't clear enough from the angle but in eyesight you can see the overlap at the bottom where its sliding out of the recess and the top gap in the picture is between 3/8" and a 1/4" below where I originally set it. Very VERY noticeable in person, at least to me

I just set my emblem today using automotive 3m tape. The emblem has mounting holes. It should not move. Maybe it's your aftermarket emblem?

You're correct there are two little dimples in the back of the emblem that I had to line up with tabs to get it to sit down. I will contact the vendor to see if it can be sent back and replaced...hell I may even just put the nissan emblem back on with the carbon fiber backing left in place. Idk

thanks for the help all and to the mod for moving this to the appropriate place, sorry for making thread in wrong place.

I had that same emblem and ended up getting rid of it because I could never get it to sit "right"

So which 3M tape is everyone referring to? I keep wanting to take off front and rear badges and paint them black but I'm not sure what to use to re-adhere it to the car.

3m VHB is super strong, id use that.

they make different thicknesses as well which might help you make that emblem look a bit more natural

Why not just plasti-dip them on the car? Then you won't have to worry about reapplying them and making sure they are 100% centered.

i thought about the plastidip option but wanted something more permanent and i couldnt be happier about the way they turned out. very nice gloss on them and i think they look great. putting them back on actually wasnt a very big deal at all
