Thumbs up 370Z UV sunshield product review

After looking at Minicobra's THREAD - HERE and extrememly hot outside temparature

Currently 100 F but feel like at least 110 F

I have decided to get a Sunshield for the Z. I was looking at the traditional sunshield like this one here but was looking for for something a little better quality for the Z.

Then I stumbled upon this UV protecting sun shield that looks pretty good and well built.

The Z Store! Nissan-Datsun 240Z-260Z-280Z-280ZX-300ZX(Z31/Z32)-350Z-370Z Parts: UV Sunshield, 2009 370Z
Quote:
UV Heat Shields help reduce interior temperature and protect the interior from damaging sun rays that penetrate the front windshield. Our heat shields are custom patterned to follow the outline of the windshield, and insulated to provide protection from the #1 source of interior damage, cracking, and fading: the Sun. They're easy to use - just unfold and position across the windshield surface, then fold the sun visors down to hold the shield in place. They are also easy to fold. With a silver reflective fabric on the outer side, soft felt on the inside, both fabrics are laminated to a foam-core board which acts as the insulator.
It's very well built and does it's job really good. I started my car in bright daylight today with the sunshield on and my auto headlights turned on because it was dark enough inside. It's custom fitted so it covers the corners pretty good. Here are some pictures to give you guys an idea how it looks. If you need me to take a closer shot, I can do so.

outside. IF you look closely, you'll see the headlights are turned on (AUTO setting)

Looks good AK, my only question is how hard is the material? I have my V1 mounted underneath the rear view mirror and with the flimsy sunscreen I can sort of bend the shade to take it off without having to remove the V1. Any room underneath the rear view mirror for a V1 or other items which will allow the shade to be taken on/off easily?

It's very sturdy. I'm planning on hardwiring my radar detector soon with it clamped to the rearview mirror like this Custom Made Connecting Mount for Radar Detector on 350Z and other Cars (see pics below). I will post how the shield works out after install. thanks.

Yep, those are exactly how mine fit, guess I could just order it and see. Not a huge deal to take it down when the shield goes up (usually should just to protect it).

A picture request, how does the unit fold up, and any good place for it to rest while driving?

Nice one AK. Thanks for the review. I've been pondering around the idea of getting something like this.

Thanks for that radar mount link AK! i've been looking for one! i just got off the phone with Joy from that link and ordered one! she was really nice and helpful. unfortunately they dont have the "Z" emblem on the back of the beltronics mount because the stem to the rear view mirror is bigger than 3/4 for our cars. idk about valentines or other radars though. anyways, thanks again AK!

That looks like a lot of field of view will be blocked with it mounted below the mirror.

I picked up one of those UV sunshields about two weeks ago.....looks great and works great, too! Glad to see someone else has one, too.

Doesn't bother me at all.

As for the sunshield, my car's garaged and I never end up using em anyways due to lazyness. My 2 cents. :S

I've got the same thing - the fold-up...

I stow it behind the passenger seat. Not really any better spot to put it...
