Tail Lights not turning off

It doesn't appear that anyone else knows, either. I suggest digging through your Owner's Manual and/or contacting a dealership.

So after checking everything nothing is wrong. Took a look at the wiring diagram. Looks like the 'daytime running switch' is connected directly to the rear lights meaning they never actually turned off! Lol... just never noticed it? Can anyone else confirm?

NEVER turns off?

Or isn't off while your DRLs are on?

Don't have the diagram/schematics but thats what it showed.

The DRLs are always on here in Canada so I guess yes, NEVER turns off in that sense?

Yes, I know, I'm Canadian myself.
I thought your issue was that they wouldn't turn off even after the car was off. That's how your OP read.

If they're just on while your car is on because of the DRLs, I really don't know what to tell you...

I guess bottom line is, does your car's tail lights/lisence plate lights turn on 24/7 even when you're in the "off" position?

No, neither are yours. Yours is on while the car is on.
While your car is on and your are forced in Canadia to have DRLs, I don't see why it's a big deal that your license plate and tail lights stay on, because in effect Canada's "off" if a car is even equipped with an "off" position, is like leaving the car on the parking light mode, and in that setting, the parking lights, tail lights, and license plate lights on most cars are on.

Actually that's not true. Most cars I would say 80 or more percent even with DRLs in Canada have a "off" mode in which ONLY the DRLs stay on. If you look at our headlight switch there are 4 settings:

1. OFF
2. AUTOMATIC
3. MID-DAY
4. NIGHT

Then midday setting is supposed to turn on the rear lights but not night time lights in most cars. The fact that our car's DRLs is the same as night time makes that extra position completely useless. Mode 3/4 would be EXACTLY the same and the only diff between mode 1/3/4 is the interior illumination then. If this is really the case that's a really dumb design. Dunno y I just noticed the taillights always stayed on until now lol.

Do you have auto starter? If so try clicking the lock button on you keyfob few times to take it out of the mode that’s keeping the lights on.

I had the same issue recently, the light won't turn off until running out of battery.
My car also happens to be a Canadian version. The light is stuck on MID-DAY mode forever but the light switch is on OFF position.
Does anyone have any idea which part went wrong?

Legend has it that OP is still in the process of topping off the blinker fluid and will let everyone know.
