Custom hood vents

They also make stickers with dots that turn color to show what temps you hit. I can't remember where I found them, but they're out there.

lessons learned from this is (1) I should have moved it to the edge of the hump...I slighty cut into it. Aesthetically it would of look ten times better. (2) bending the flaps would be easier if I cuted/trimmed guide on the backside of the hood with a dremel. Would of helped bend the flap easier than using force. Other than that having the proper tools made it really easy to do this.

Next is similair style on the fenders like the GTR racecars..because I'm a ricer

I got a OBDII read out and I've noticed that temp drops quicker when moving than before...

Not any more then the millions of OEM and aftermarket Evo hood guys that drive year round. Engines get dirty anywho and your plugs and harnesses are pretty water tight.

Syno do you have a picture of how the underside of yours worked out? Did you pick that spot for alignment with some of the stock bracing on the underside?

Yes I did. I wanted to cut though only 1 layer and not through the bracing. I ended up cutting a little though because I needed an inch of back cut to have room to glue the mesh to the hood. The front bracing also bends down and away from the hood and that natural bend line was easy to follow.

Yes it looks like crap! I used dikes and I cut and pulled and tore the metal off because I didn't want to make more of a mess with metal shavings from grinding and I don't own cutting shears. But I don't care, no one sees under there.

As seen that's also as far forward as you can go anyways (right where the bracing bends down). Any further and you're over the radiator shroud that has no point to vent.

I like how this looks...might cut the hole then get the hood repainted(stone chips, thanks PA) that way I do not have to worry about the edges rusting...unless I missed it in the thread was there any significant heat reduction other that you know heat is coming out of it? like oil temps or water temps?

Sorry but not a big fan. Just buy an aftermarket CF hood.

Again most will hurt instead of help. The designs aren't there.

Hoods aluminium, it can't rust.

Street "racing" I can't get over 218 degrees. I'd say thats pretty good data with only the OEM oil cooler.
