Functionally, I don't think it makes any difference. On most cars, most of the hood is at lower pressure when moving over 20-30 mph. But I haven't seen any air flow charts for the Z.

Correct traditionally we see the vents going the other way....I did the same thing seen reposted in post #64 just that I didn't completely cut the vent out. Rather I bent the vent flap level to the ground. It's not to catch air as an intake but rather keep air moving throughout the engine bay. The nismo RS concept vents are placed so perfectly on the nismo racecar. If you crouch down and look at them you'll see that air is hitting the intake pipe/TB/manifold full on...

Yep. I don't know why no one picked up on the design & manufacture them. It has good function & good looks

If you want a cheap way to test under hood temps go to Walmart and buy a cheap battery powered oven/meat temperature gauge. Get one that is meant to be placed outside of the oven with a long hi temp cord attached to the meat thermometer. Or even better, a wireless unit.
Depending on the length of the cord, you may need to zip tie the gauge to your windshield wipers so you can see it through the wind shield. I used this method to see what type of under hood temps I was getting in the master cylinder compartment (after multiple slave/clutch master cylinder failures at the track). What I found out is that temps spike rapidly any time the car is not moving. And that it is vital to open your hood AND plastic brake and clutch master cylinder compartment cover immediately after getting off track.
