looks much better

i hate how threads like these make me want a GT wings.... :(
|
:D guys i am noobie in aerodynamics so any help on how to set the wing angle will be appreciated :)
Do you think it is okay like it is now? or i should tilt it up or down? |
i love the angle
|
yah, im no expert with those high wings, but it appears to be at a good angle already.
i would just add some more down force if you feel the rear a tad loose at the track. or if you're going for top speed and just need that extra few mph might be good to reduce the down force just a hair or something like that. |

Get the 262!!!! |
That mounting position looks a little farther back than the iNGS Low Mounts, but the height looks spot on.
I have mine set at basically a 0* AOA for daily driving I don't really need downforce. It has hex bolts so I can easily swap it to a higher angle if need be. I like the 0* spot because even at that, the actual curve of the wing still goes up in the rear and gives "some" downforce. :driving: |

i didn't really get why Cwiz wanted this particular wing till i saw it on his car at zdayz this year. it looks great and it fits the car really well.
i saw y'all mentioning adjusting the wing earlier. i don't know a whole lot about wings but i can tell you from what we've learned on the world challenge car i shoot for, on wings like this you are better off to leave it at zero * angle of attack. if you can find info on the downforce provided, it will probably be in japanese, that can help take the guess work out of it. even for HPDE/track days, you are better off leaving it at 0* AOA until you truly feel you need more rear downforce. the APR wing, which is a similar wing, will stall once you get more than a few degrees higher than 0. at that point you are just producing drag and not much downforce. however, i will say that on the race car, changing from the stock nismo wing to the aeromotions wing made a vast improvement in rear grip, especially under braking. it helped a lot with the "ice mode" problems. when driving on the limit, the rear brakes on these cars lock up before the fronts and the ABS freaks out. adding downforce to the rear helped counter this. now we have a standalone ABS unit so we don't worry about such things :stirthepot: |
i will try contacting ings and ask them if they can provide me some info on how to set the wing, otherwise i will leave it like it is now.. :)
|
it's also worth noting that the APR wing claims ~100lbs of downforce at 0* AOA at 100mph or something along those lines. i may be wrong about the speed but i remember the 100lbs part. the ings wing should be pretty similar

Congrats man. Love this rare wing.
Here's my 160 MM in dry carbon. http://i1305.photobucket.com/albums/...psde6c18a5.jpg http://i1305.photobucket.com/albums/...psca699e0d.jpg http://i1305.photobucket.com/albums/...psd97c12d2.jpg |
I swear that last picture looks like it was taken in the garage where Eleanor was stored in Gone In 60 Seconds... Also, wow the paint match is atrocious on that car.
|
Go find a road that in the past you get air on some of the hilly sections. With that wing it should feel as if there is a vacuum sucking your car to the road!

u guys have some nice rides in chicago.. of all places (snowy)! :icon17:

Enjoy your keyboard trolling for the day? Hope you feel like a big man now. |
would have to see the car in person to really see the difference in the color match because my car is factory painted and silvers are also notorious for showing up in a different shade in pictures as the pieces are painted in different locations. color match looks great in person.
metal particles need to line up perfectly to give the same hue/shade..which is impossible to do unless it was painted in the same booth all at once. unless there's some new technology where it can line up the particles in a particular orientation. |
The lighting is probably making the contrast worse.
Also, I do realize that paint on metal and plastic parts is going to look slightly different, especially when painted at different times, usually in different locations. That's more of a complaint for Nissan, not the owner of a car. I have been in several car manufacturing plants including BMW here in Spartanburg. They manage to paint the whole car the same color, regardless of material. I wish Nissan would work on this... :\ |
