Need help!
 

So today I was re-wiring my radar detector and routing the mute button to the center console under the carpet, I notice that my carpet in the driver side was soaked. It was raining hard a few days ago. So now I am letting it dry. Then I went and did a test. I went to wash my car, and see where the water is leaking it from. I look under by the fuse box, and saw water leaking it down from a cable hole. Then I open my hood and the water is leaking thru where the brake stuff area. See pic below. Red circle from the first pic is where the water getting in. Second Pic is where the water coming out by blue cable ( can't take a pic of the hole where the cable goes thru).

Have anybody have this happened? I just don't believe water leak thru there and didnt notice it since now.

I have never found any moisture in my Z, I powerwash the crap outta it too. Did you try maybe throwing some silicone around that grommet?

If you are spraying the engine compartment when it happens, the firewall sealing boot probably needs to be adjusted or replaced. Check to make sure the boot is sealing around all wiring and has a good seal at the firewall.

madwi's silicone should work very well but tends to look bad if you have to seal a large tear/crack. If the boot is not sealing around a wiring bundle, wire ties may help.

If it's happening with the hood closed, I'd suggest taking it to a dealer or body shop.

I found out what happened. Almost 2 years ago, the person who did my sound system mess it up on the wire routing. When they are routing the cable they push the rubber gourmet out so they can get the cable in the car. Then of course the rubber gourmet will not fit back into the hole cuz of the cable is on the way. So they just left it there like the pic I posted from the last post. So today, I re-route the cable and put back the rubber gourmet in place with silicon around , so that i can make sure it doesn't get water in again.

P.S. It was a pain to get the rubber gourmet back in place. It took at least 1 and half hour to fix it. I just don't believe that audio shop did that!
